Willow has her B12/Laurabolin jabs at home every 3 weeks but nearly every time I make an appointment, I get a call telling me the vets are held up in surgery. I can understand this happening occasionally but not all the time. The last time, a VN came and did them but this time I was told I can have an appt. tomorrow. I said I am at college Thursday and Friday and she offered Monday. I am really fed up with vets >:( - I have also just had a go at the vet next door about a dog barking all day >:(
I have phoned another vet who are quite a way out but they do home visits and I am assured they are reliable.
I am really fed up >:(

I have to wait until I have picked OH up from the station.
I was wondering if I am being unreasonable but it has happened so many times now. I really do understand if there is an emergency but surely they could come and do it after the surgery?
I planned my week around this visit.

I have never known a vet run on time!
However if they have an appointment to come I would expact them to keep it, sounds to me that they dont want to come!

They could have come here after surgery. I feel like I am a convenience for them or maybe an inconvenience. At the time I made the appointment, Even though the jabs were due Wednesday, I said I was flexible. Another thing that irks me is on the day, YOU have to phone THEM to get a time. They told me to phone at 10am. I phoned at around 10.45am and the girl didn't know and went to get the vet. He said "Is that the Royal College?" - I said who I was and he said he didn't know what his schedule was but someone would phone me later. I got a call at 12.30pm saying he would be here at 3.30pm - followed by the call at 3.30pm saying he wouldn't be coming at all due to still being in a emergency surgery. If I have heard that once, I have heard it a dozen times. I like them as people but the service sucks.

Sounds like they need to forget home visits and concentrate on their surgery commitments, theres no point offering a service if people end up not getting what they need, what a waste of a day! :hug:

In the meantime, Willow is missing her jabs. If she goes downhill because of this.................

Mark, any chance you could give it yourself? the vets can make up the vit B12 and laurabolin with a green needle (bit faster flow as it's quite thick) for you to collect and once it's in the skin, it takes 2 secs to do sub cut. Or does Willow go demented and need a vet to do it? I ran into the same problem when I wanted home visits. They cost more but a busy vet just pushes them to the bottom of their priorities.
Hope she gets her jab asap and it helps her.

I wondered as well if you could do the injections yourself, I've only ever done the yearly injections on cats and dogs so not sure if there is any difference for this...
Course if you need chainmail to do it i could see it being a little difficult.

I think you should try the injections yourself (not on you! :innocent: ) that way you dont have to rely on anyone and she dos'nt have to miss out! ;) :hug:

I will ask about it but I have a feeling the Laurabolin is intramuscular?

Nope, it's sub cut so nice and easy. The only thing is to pull the skin fold over the needle, not stab the needle in (hurts less) and also fire it at a slight downward angle. Otherwise you may shoot some expensive pink and white liquid straight out the other side!
I always try to get nice and calm beforehand. I'm sure that the vets won't mind explaining or showing you exactly how to do it. I had one locum telling me I had to put the needle in, then retract it 2cms to check for resistance etc, whereupon my vet just said nonsense, give it like any other sub cut injection and don't worry, it will be fine. good luck :hug:

I didn't get to speak to the vet as I was at college and OH was working from home. I'm glad OH dealt with it this time as now he has taken an interest in the binders, food, meds etc rather than thinking I just give them to the cats for the fun of it :Crazy:
I have explained what the 2 injections are for but this time he asked me what they were and what they did :)

Oh wow! Glad Dennis is taking more of an interest now than just "coochy coo"! ;) Two brains work better than one and all that! :hug:
