Hi,
I know I haven't been on here for ages (due to going back to work full time, gggrrr). Anyway I know that I'll get good advice on here. Yesterday Missy jumped off the kitchen worktop (she's always up there naughty girl) and afterwards started limping. To cut a long story short she is putting weight on her paw but when I try to touch it she growls and hisses so it obviously hurts her - the swelling has gone down and she's still eating like mad. I've booker her into the vets for tonight - but wondered what to expect when I get there - will they do x-rays etc. sorry for rambling! dx

I'm no expert, but can't imagine its a break if she's able to put weight on it.
As to whether it could be a strain or a sprain, probably more likely a sprain I would have though as it was on landing, but I could be completely wrong!! The swelling going down is a good sign though.
Definitely wise to get the vet to check in any event, good luck for later and let us know how you both get on

I also think a strain at least possible briused it.
They wont be doing xrays I think unless you have been asked to starve her although I took Sasa in after finding her hardly able to walk and they did sedate her and xray her despite her possibly having eaten.
He said it was OK cos it would make her sick but she is a semi feral and bit the vet cos he move her legs and hurt her by accident, so that may have made a difference.
Hope it all goes well

Sorry I can't advise but good you're getting her checked out and I hope it's just something minor which will soon heal x

:luck: at the vets, as Clare said if it was a break I'd imagine she would have trouble bearing weight on it. I think an anti-inflammatory jab and lots of TLC will be the order of the day.
:welcome: back by the way, I was only thinking about Flora and all her gorgeous kittens the other day :Luv2:

Oh wow - it must be over 2 years since Flora and her babies - I do miss her still. Unfortunately I don't foster any more as I'm back at work full time - but I still have my long-term fosters, Mozart and Muesli, plus my other 3 (and Alfie the dog of course!) dx

Well vet gave her a pain killing injection - told to rest her for a few days (she won't be happy staying in) and if not better by the end of the weekend back to have x-rays. Hopefully she'll be ok by then. Currently sulking upstairs, she hates the cat carrier!

Hope the injection helps and things heal quickly

Glad it went OK, fingers crossed it sorts itself out by the weekend so no repeat visit needed!
:get well: Missy

Aw, hope she heals up quickly

Good luck with the painkiller, Im sure there is no break there as the swelling would not of gone down! ;)
