The vet should be putting Eddie on a drip, so please make sure he does and also they should use a safe anasthetic suitable for older cats , which as said below are very safe now.

The drip is to try to protect the kidneys.

Lots of huge good vibes for both tomorrow

Yep, for older cats - at my vets anyhow they always do full blood to check things are ok, that was how we discovered Schui's kidneys were starting to fail, it was only slightly but he was put on a drip.

Flumpet had to have nearly all his teeth out about 5 yrs ago. I was so worried. He was ok after a few days.
Be thinking of you :Luv:

I was always phoning the reception to check on Smudge when he had to have his teeth done - he was 9 and then 12 when he had his done - I couldn't go to work cos I was so on edge.

Both back safely ;D

Eddie had bloods done and they are fine , no problems at all, he has 2 teeth removed and the rest cleaned and polished and now i have my little man back safe  and sound :Luv:

Mika however is a different story, she is back to being a madam again attacked everyone when she came in,  and just generally going round to see who she can upset next >:( hope its just hormones as i couldnt go through another episode like the last time, she even swiped poor old Axel as he walked past :evillaugh: never seen a dog tuck his bum in so quick :wow:

I've known some people get all aggressive after a GA ;)

Mika's just upset about her experiences today - she'll soon settle

When i fetched Smartie back from having an anasethtic (sp) once -he spat at me twice and he has never done it before or since - he is unbelievably placid usually !
Glad they are both okay and i bet Madam will settle down soon -she is just taking it out on everyone !

So glad both op's are over and all is okay!  :wow:

Mika will be fine today (if but a little sore) I think some cats get frightened at the not in control effect of coming out of anesthetic!  ;)

Title: Re: Mega vibes for tomorrow UPDATE ON MIKA
Post by: bonnielass on October 17, 2009, 21:17:02 PM
This little girl is now turning into the most wonderful little cat,
Since being done and  after the first initial reaction when she came home attacking everyone and everything overnight she changed into a complete chatterbox and cuddlebum :Luv:
She follows me everywhere and chatters non-stop even when you ignore her and she is now ignoring Kali instead of attacking her which is a big relief ;)
She had a little wander round the garden this afternoon but decided it was to cold and came straight back in and told me all about it :evillaugh:
She is now cuddled up on the back of the sofa with Rossi (neighbours cat ) whose come for a visit quite happy :Luv:

Eddie is eating better now but his dermititus is still flaring up despite having depramedrone , ab and goodness knows what else
The cod liver oil is helping a bit and the vets told me to try brewers yeast tablets as well but i think some of it is down to stress caused by Mika when she first came as now if she comes near him he runs away and hides  :scared:

The vet has also advised me to change from Frontline to Advocate

Glad he is eating better!  :Luv2:

Yes stress can make the skin flare up... I would give the Brewer's yeast a go though...anything is worth a try to calm it!  ;)
