hello,
there is a poor black an white cat lying by the side of the road by my house :-( it has been there since yesterday morning. it was on the road, and i was going to move it when i got home yesterday, but somebody had already mover it onto the grass. should i do anything or just leave it? whoever this moggies owners are they obvously dont know its there. i just hate the thought of this poor cat just lying there, or that there may be people wondering where there cat is

I would carefully wrap the cat in a towel and take him / her to the nearest vet. S/he may well have a microchip and at least then his or her human companions will know what happened.

I had something very like this happen to me
We took the cats body to the vet and, thankfully, she had been microchipped so the vet was able to contact her owners
Sad, but at least they had closure.

Also put up a notice or two nearby and your local paper may put an ad in free of charge.

ok thanks. im not sure my vet is open now till monday, but if the poor thing is still there then i will take it. i will find out if the vet is open in the morning. im just thinking that whoever owns the cat may not live close, as the road its on is the main road out of my village id haver thought thay would have seen it if they live close.
makes me want to keep mine in now ( just as my youngest cat is now meowing to go out!)

So feel for you Christina :(. It would be a very great service to the owners if you could try and have the poor cat (RIP babe) scanned for a chip. There is nothing much worse than not knowing what has happened to a precious pet as I'm sure you will appreciate. My neighbour opposite found my dearly loved gorgeous boy Aslan. Neighbour wasnot a pet person and disposed of him in normal refuse :( He meant no harm and at least I knew what had happened :(

just checked the website for my vet and it says that they are open nine thirty till tent hirty tomorow morning for emergencies only but i will ring up and maybe they will let me come and get the cat scanned. it only takes a second to scan them so hopefully they will let me come. i will see if the cat is still there in the morning :-(

Do you have out of hours service with vets now? You could take the cat to them tonight, whichever vet you go to ask if they can keep the body for a week if it isnt chipped. The owners could be away on holiday and left their flap open :(

Sorry you are having to deal with this, but thank you for caring enough to do so :hug:
I'd find out if there'a an out of hours vet locally, failing that, take the body to your own vet tomorrow to see if they can scan for a chip.

Bless you for caring for the poor thing :hug: I too would take the to the vets and see whether there is a chip. Most owners will contact vets if their pets are missing so even if there is no chip the owners may be able to be traced and there is closure for them :hug:

I know it might sound a bit strange but if you could take a picture of the little one as well. As least then you will a record of what kitty looks like if the owners are not found straight away. Sometimes a poster turns up a couple of weeks later and you will then be able to show them a picture rather than having to try to describe the cat to them.

Aw poor thing.
Do you have a garage or shed you could put the body in over night (incase foxes get hold of it)

hi, i took the cat to the vet this morning, it was still by the side of the road poor thing. it was right outside somebodys house. duno how they could have just left it lying outside there house.
the vet scanned it, and it wasnt microchipped :-(
i didnt take a picture or anything, im not good with this sort of thing, it upsets me too much, i just wrapped it in a towel without trying to look at it too much. the vet took my details and thanked me for bringing it in. they said they keep it for a couple of weeks and if nobody come sforward thenthey will cremate it
to be honest, it was a very big male cat. it may even have been a ferrel.
