Rajah is 5 months old today! AND, he lost a tooth. He was pawing around his mouth this afternoon after chewing my beautiful plant. I was not happy with him at all because nothing stops him once he wants to do something and so was a bit worried in case he was having a reaction to the plant, but he'd had a go at it plenty of times before without incident, so was a bit confused as to what all the pawing was about. My daughter came in about 5'ish and she held him down while I took a quick peek in his mouth. She spotted the bottom front fang hanging by a thread. It took one little yank and it came free. Rajah was a little disgruntled at the treatment, but was happy that the irritation was gone.
PS I only have 2 houseplants, one is a nearly dead love palm courtesy of Rajah, and the other is quite a large and prolific something or other, and seems to be able to take a lot of chewing, but I haven't a clue what it is. None of wikipaedia's plants that are deadly to cats match it. It has longish variagated leaves - pale green background with dark green stripes, and purple at the back. I can't identify it anywhere on the internet.

If you cant identify the plant I really wouldnt risk having it in the house just incase it is Toxic

is it a spider plant?

I think you may well have a variety of dracaena, which is high on the list of poisonous houseplants :shify:

I've looked up dracaena and it doesn't look at all like this plant, which incidently I have now got rid of. It has a fairly broad flat leaf, the underside is a purple colour and the top side pale green with darker green stripes which turn down from the middle of the leaf to face the point. It is a very attractive plant and sends out a pale cream flower once a year which looks like a stem of wheat. Anyhow, I took the plant down to the school reception (I live and work at a boarding school) and very sadly left it there. Rajah is confined to our flat so he won't be able to access it again and only has the chance to mutilate my love palm which is quite prickly and seems to annoy him when he tries to eat it as the pointy bits stick his mouth.

I gave up on house plants full stop.... :tired:
All kittens get their adult teeth by approx 7 months old....so its quite normal to notice the pawing when tooth related at this age! ;)

Trigger once ate all the flowers off a begonia plant
and bit every flower head of two window boxes of tulips - I just had a row of stalks left - and that was just naughtiness as he didn't eat them >:(

Found it - Calathea - which seemingly is harmless to cats but seemingly cats are harmful to it, so it has gone to a better place :'(
