I need advice and suggestions about the Felix foil trays vs the Felix pouches.
Bubz is eating wet food again, she went off it over the summer again, or rather she was eating wet food. I had a few foil trays of Felix As Good as it Looks in the cupboard which she has muched through quite happily. When I went to Asda this week I looked for the trays but found none so I risked getting the pouches. Bubz is not impressed at all, she licked the jelly off and has left the rest to go dry and unappetising.
I looked on Asda's website and couldn’t find the trays listed anywhere (their site isn't the easiest one to search on), so I looked at Pets At Home on the off-chance, only to come up with nothing. I then went onto the Felix website (as confusing as the Asda site in my opinion) to try to find where they are sold. No luck. So here I am, asking for help.
I cannot understand what the difference is between the pouches and the trays. True the meat is more dense in the trays, but ... … … I live on the edge of Chatham and Asda is way closest and the supermarket I can actually get a whole week's worth of food. Tesco is in town and this particular store is one where I can only get under half of what I want, plus it is pricier! Morrison's is another where I can only get a percentage of what I go out for.
So help and advice as to coaxing Bubz into eating the pouches!

I've never seen as good as it looks trays????
-
I think the contents of pouches and trys are dufferent in some way cos mine eat Felix pouches in jelly but will not eat the trays, The jelly and contents sem more dense.
Have you tried the ordinary trays and se if she will eat that?
Its worth emailing Felix and asking them if they have stopped the ones you were buying.
I know I tried the pouch version cos they alsways seem to be on offer but none of my four would touch them........sigh
Supermarket delivery is so bad when they wont let you have the quantity you need...I had that with Tescoes and am so glads I can now drive and go and get what I need .
Curently however I cant get enough or evn any in store and am having to travel a long way to get cat food!
-
Ooops, my memory let me down. Its not As Good as it Looks, its just the straightforward trays. Sorry for confusion.
-
ah, ok for the jelly ones yes the texture is a bit different, you should be able to get those anywhere though

The supermarkets are bad cos they keep destocking items cos they dont make a big enough cut for the greedy :censored:

Tesco sells them. On their website it's listed under Pet care > cats > single portion cat food
Single Trays are 29p
Box of 12 (fish) for £3.39
Box of 12 (meat) for £3.29
Sainsburys also do them too (on their site and instore)
Single Trays for 29p
Box of 12 (fish) for £3.39
Box of 12 (meat) for £3.39
Box of 12 (mixed chunks with veggies) for £3.39
Box of 12 (senior) for £3.59
I don't understand the cats only eating one thing whether it be tins/pouches or trays .. Memphis happily eats both pouches and trays. I've tested him with tinned Felix and he eats that too.
-
lucky you Den, I've got one who only eats certain flavours of as good as it looks and tins are ignored by all concerned in my house!
-
I've worked in 1 cattery and a rescue/cattery (so peoples pets and strays) and I can honestly say hand on heart I never came across a fussy cat. The first cattery, the cats were fed on tins (unless the owners supplied their own food, which very few ever did) the second place I had a mixture of all sorts of brands .. pouches and tins so I would vary them throughout the week. They would eat whatever. I did have one persons cat who came in and "would only eat Chicken Whiskas pouches" ... and after her refusing to eat, tried her with something else which she happily wolfed down :scared:
-
can I send them over for you to sort out - I'd like all four to eat the same in a perfect world!

Send them on over lol, the more the merrier :Luv2:
It's always the way though isn't it .. animals always behave so much better with other people.

Cat Fud Law: :rules:
Jelly/gravy is always tastier than actual meat (so mum mashes it :()
We will always give anything new the paws up ;D up until mum buys it in bulk, then it turns to poison
We will only ever eat 1 type of food (esp if difficult to find) :feedme: until 1 day we detest it :Nooooo:
Tinned Felix is great ...... once ;)
Any Felix with beef is poo

-
nor mine!
-
Thanks to everyone for your support today.
I knew you'd not let me down!
Bubz - got onto komputr when mummy not looking
-
Have to say the Clan Cats are usually very eager to try new foods and will eat it for the 18 tin cycle - 2 meals in our house and then when we order the same again they look at us like we are trying to poison them
We know its really bad when the outside ferals join in to - Robin advises we do spoil them just a tad!
-
I have 4 fussy cats now and one before and she would rather starve to death at home rather than eat somthing she didnt want but at the vets........she ate what she wouldnt eat at home!
Franta however would not eat at the vets at all and they were worried about his liver and he had to come home.
Noni so has it right
None of my 4 will eat Felix beef in jelly.....sigh
-
I think I've cracked it - for the immediate future anyhow!
Keep the pouches in the fridge and dont break the food up too small when serving!
;D ;D ;D
-
well done - mine won't eat it out of the fridge
-
This time last year Bubz wouldnt either! Hey-ho!
-
Well cats just like to teaze us
