When she crashed again a few weeks ago, she was at 2.4kg. Her max ever weight is 2.6kg. OH insists that she has her 3-weekly jabs at home so as not to stress her (despite me saying it doesn't - but hey) the snag is, we won't be able to weigh her. I was toying with the idea of using the kitchen scales but not sure what I can put her in to weigh her as the platform is small. I don't want to spend a lot. Maybe a different set of kitchen scales that comes with a container on top? - btw - I am lost wthout my scales as the battery died but I got 2 maxell lithium batteries on eBay yesterday for £1.39 inc 1st class post :Crazy:
I don't think her weight is much of an issue ATM as amazingly, she is going mad for RC renal wet - The plate I put in the bedroom for her to have overnight is literally licked clean - something unheard of in this house. Maybe there is something in what my old vet said about animals having an ability to know what is good for them (although I am supplementing with good protein)

I was thinking of just getting another set that has a box on top - ie what you would measure the flour into.
I love my scales and use them all hen zero and change it to ml or fluid oz - just so easy. I even weight out chips or pasta so I know I have used 1/2 pack rather than one portion too large and the other too small :evillaugh:

Same here, although not quite so easy with a wriggling Poot! Max was much more compliant ;) :evillaugh:

That's what I was thinking of. Pet scales are £60+ but I can get kitchen scales for £20 or less :evillaugh:

I recently bought a set of special offer salter scales to weigh Swampy. The legs fell off in no time, despite it being used only once a day. The only really accurate home scales for cats are baby scales, but they cost quite a lot. I now wish I'd bought those.
Otherwise what they recommended was to weigh yourself with the cat every day and make some marks on the scale for where you must put your feet AND put it on the same floor every day. That will get you the most accurate possible reading to the nearest 100g. A terrible idea to weigh yourself every day though :evillaugh:

My kitvhen scales are accurate to within 5g and I think that is adequate for a cat? - I'm sure Willow has gained weight in the last few weeks and she has a heartier appetite than ever which I can only put down to the Benazecare - either than or she had anaemia for years which I doubt?

sounds like she is doing well on the drug, which is great as she was so teeny wasn't she. Did you find out btw if it is 100% the same as fortekor in all respects? (has the fortekor patent expired then?).

I couldn't find the binding ingredients but I'm sure it is identical to Fortekor. I'm sure the patent has expired so any drug company can produce a generic version I assume - DawnF is the expert here :evillaugh:
Anyway, my new batteries for the scales arrived and it still isn't working so I have to buy new ones anyway :evillaugh:

I bought a set of baby scales from TKMaxx, I've seen them on ebay as well. They're pricier than kitchen scales but not hugely expensive. I still weigh my icklest bunny in the kitchen scales though!

I would also use a normal human scale- I use my wii fit :)

is it made by ciba geigy? the earliest I can find is one from them in 1982

My winning method is also to use a human scale, first get on the scale yourself with the cat in my arms. Then get on again without the cat. Subtract the difference. Oliver is not very fond of being held, but for a few seconds it takes we usually manage fairly well, if he is in a good mood. then again Willow is less than 1/3 of 8,5kg Oliver so surely it will be much less trouble!! :evillaugh:

Fortekor is Novartis and Benazecare is Animal Health Limited but they sell lots of things like urine remover so they probably have it made by someone else. So not sure.

Yes but she is also a lunatic so maybe not :evillaugh: - I ended up with a swollen finger and had to take antibiotics for a week after trying to pill her :evillaugh:
We don't have any human scales. We did but I haven't seen them for a long time so maybe I threw them out. I will get some more. It seems more practical.
