Title: Looking for plastic lids for catfood tins
Post by: Mark on September 08, 2009, 20:38:31 PM
I bought some regular ones today which are fine for 400gram cans and also the Whiskas 190gram senior cans. I also bought some large hoping they would fit the Purina renal cans and the Hi-life cans  - the squat tins. The lids are too big  :tired: - I guess they are for dog food? - Anyway, where can I get the medium ones?

I know cats protection sell them, I think I've actually got a few which I don't use.

How many do you need?  I can send them over if you like?

I would love to know the answer to this too. I'm after lids for cans of Hills c/d .. I also bought regular ones (too small) and large ones (too large)  :tired: I've been looking since the beginning of the year and just can't find them.

I have ones from PAH (normally by the cat food bowls and forks etc) that fit the Hi-Life tins. I want  some to fit the Applaws/Encore tins and would LOVE some for the 400g tins for my own tuna tins etc.

We must all be looking for the same ones. Thanks Clare - A couple would be great if you have them although I am happy to buy some. The funny thing is, I heard you should leave food in opened cans but I think plenty of people do. Clapton has 1/2 can of purina renal and I have been transferring the rest into a little tupperware (39p in Wilkos) but a lid would be easier  :evillaugh:

I think you can also get them in pound shops, but I could be wrong.

The ones I've got used to fit the large tins of Whiskas before I switched to pouches.

The hi-life tins I mean are the squat ones, not the tiny ones.

The ones I bought today fit the 400g tins of Whiskas but the prescription food tins have a bigger diameter but only about 3" tall - as does the hi-life tin.

Those are the ones I mean, the squat ones (you mean the ones with tuna and shrimp and chicken and ham and not the pate ones?) The small Pate ones I equal to the Encore/Applaws ones. I have the ones for the squat tins.

I can't find the camera right now but the ones I need fit prescription food tins and also the 170g tins of smelly hi-life tuna that Willow loves (even with 2 squirts of renalzin in  :evillaugh: )

Ah, I don't think these would fit then sadly

Ooooh! Then those are the same size as the Applaws ones? I would love covers for those too, I don't feed all in one go either.

We really need a dictionary on terminology here, would have saved a heap of time  :evillaugh:

Squat, Small, Tiny, Tuna..

I haven't bought any for ages but the last I bought were from the supermarket I can't remember whether it was Tescos or Coop but I think the latter.

The caps you need will fit regular 400g tin size and the wider 156g a/d sized tins all in one bit of plastic  ;D  I see them all over, PAH, the range etc they are made by ferplast whenever i see them.

Have never seen small ones that cover 85g tins not that i have such small tins open for any length of time as they get eaten

I bought 2 sizes in PAH. The regular fit the 400 Tins and also the 190g whiskas senior tins. The large are massive and must be for dog food. The size I need is soewhere between the 2.

I would put the food in an air-tight container, it seems to go mushy once the tin is opened  :)

The ferplast ones are in a 3 pack and fit both sizes you need in one cap as they are ridged  ;D

Thanks - I'll keep an eye out but they only had the 2 sizes of own brand in PAH. Sometimes small shops are better for odd things. Now it is getting cooler, I would rather leave 1/2 tins somewhere cool than in the fridge so they are ready to eat.
