Can you set them so one cat can go out and another can't?
Recently, we can barely keep Willow in the house. We are worried than with her being so tiny, it can't be good for her. I have visions of there being a frost and her sleeping through it. Kylie has natural insulation + an outdoor kennel. I hate the idea of restricting Kylie but want to keep Willow safe - especially as she has gone a bit gaga :'( - I keep taking her to bed but every morning she is asleep on the window ledge outside.

I was curious about that too, actually. Because it would be useful if one cat had to have an op, but you didn't want to restrict the others.

You can't with the Sureflap, but am not sure about the Pet Porte.

You could just not store her in it! Leaves you playing doorman at other times but you can then keep an eye

The problem is, Willow isn't like a normal cat - we locked the flap the other night and she drove us up the wall trying to get out. We ended up opening it for her as she wouldn't give up. One of the reasons was because she was getting stressed and we don't need another bout of Cystitis :scared: - So hard to know what to do for the best. I hope she has the sense to come in when it is cold. She was always the one to follow me up the stairs but has changed recently.

I thought they only read the chip so opened/barred to cats coming in not going out? Or are you thinking of putting a flap in backwards so it thinks the in is out and the out is in, if you see what I mean :Crazy:

They work both ways - basically they unlock when an "allowed" cat comes near. I know you can switch them to "vet mode" so cats can only come in but wondered if you could give different instructions for each cat.

You might expect me to know the answer to this as I have just bought one, but it's being fitted to our new french windows so I haven't even seen it out of the box yet. I suspect one setting has to suffice for all cats though.

I thought that would be the case. It's fine right now but as the nights get colder I think the flap will have to be locked at dusk.

My question:
Am hoping you can help me. Is it possible to programme one of your cat flaps to allow certain cats out but not others? Ie - if you have four numbers stored can you programme each one individually?

Would that mean that any chipped cat would be allowed in? not just the ones who live there

No because it is coded to accept chips that you want. Apparently, you switch it to "program" and push your cat/s through and it reads their chip/s and stores the numbers. Then you switch it to function or whatever they call it and it is good to go :)
It is a sore point with me as I had the idea long before they came out. OH said I should have done something about it :evillaugh:
