She is really lethargic and seems depressed. She has stopped going in the garden. She is refusing to lick the meds mixed in furball paste off so I had to clean dried off paste from her front leg this morning. Also her stomach is gurgling. At the moment, instead of lying on one of the many beds available to her, she is asleep on a dressing table right next to the white-noise machine which sounds like a fan  - something isn't right. Also her eyes which have always been runny are worse than ever but she won't clean the gunk off so I have been doing it with eye cleaner. Her drinking has increased even more + the inappriate peeing is worse - luckily not on carpets but I am constantly cleaning up after her. She is eating OK and gives me a purr but she has lost her usual perkiness.

Poor Willow, hope all goes well at the vets tomorrow

Poor Willow. Let us know how it goes tomorrow
-
Thinking of you and Willow
Hope everything goes OK tomorrow :)

Hope Willows vet visit gives a good outcome. (Jack should be going for a B12 jab tomorrow to get his appetite up and running again.)

That is exactly what I was going to suggest for Willow. I am also asking if he thinks we should check her potassium levels. Not sure what B vits are excreted in urine but I think she needs them supplemented. The other thing is, After all the trouble I go to to try to get Fortekor in her, I think she is one of those cats that just turns into a zombie with it so have to weigh up what is best for her. I told OH that earlier in the year, the vet suggested that if she won't take her meds, monthly vitamin jabs are the alternative but won't prolong her life; however they will make her feel a lot better. OH refuses to compromise and said we can't lose our baby as she is family.

Bless her , sending loads of good vibes for the vet visit tomorrow.

Sadly, it'll happen one day whether we can all deal with it or not. I think if you feel she isn't getting what she should out of life on Fortekor you should stand firm with regards to considering the option. I think we all feel quality of life is the issue of key importance.
-
Schui rarely took his Fortekor Mark, my vet said not to worry too much about that, quality over quantity is something we usually follow for oldies

It is a stressful process for both of us. One thing I have noticed is that she isn't being sick. She was always being sick before. The reason for this is that a previously fastidious groomer has more or less stopped grooming. She doesn't even bother with her runny eyes any more and they are getting really crusty. She usually protests when I do them but starts purring when she realises they feel better.
Another thing is a couple of places I have found her weeing smelled like pub toilets - different to the usual smell. I will mention this to the vet as well.

Her not grooming like before, I know they tend not to do this is they aren't too well but I wonder whether it could be her joints?
-
Definitely not joints. She is the most agile cat. I think it is more to do with lethargy. Whether it is caused by feeling sick with the CRF, depression or something else, I don't know. Thankfully she is peeing like a horse so at least we know she doesn't have cystitis.
These are pics I took a minute ago. She is back outside on her mat. She just doesn't respond. He eyes aren't closed because of the flash, they are just closed and when she does open them, she looks dopey. She is usually like an excited toddler. She climbs up my leg to be picked up and hangs round my shoulders like a mink stole :evillaugh:
-
Can't be that then, like you say just probably because she isn't so good right now.
Gorgeous pics, I love Willow :Luv:

I hope that everything goes okay at the vets tomorrow - sending positive vibes for Willow and  for you Mark x

She perked up last night and is eating for England but I think I should take her as she still isn't quite right. I also need to get a proper demo on pilling. The other thing is, I need to decide if the Fortekor is making her depressed and lethargic, If the bad outweighs the good then we may have to accept quality over quantity and try to manage as best we can with diet.
Annoyingly, OH asked me the other day if I am sure I don't put the cats through unnecessary things so I can fuss and take them to the vet etc :tired:

Sending a :smack: in his direction :naughty:

oh Mark - aren't they a pain!!!
-
That's the sort of thing my OH comes out with but, whilst he loves them all, he absolutely refuses to accept responsibility for their health and well being. It's very annoying >:(
-
I know :tired:
Anyway, the latest is that she has perked up so I have cancelled the appointment and booked a home visit for next Wednesday when our regular vet is back from holidays so he can check her over and have a chat about medicating, pros/cons etc. Obviously if she goes downhill again, I will take her in.
She has polished off 2 pouches of Purina one wet with renalzin in since last night. One during the eveing and the other overnight.
Also paid Clapton's £194 bill from 2 weeks ago.
-
Glad she has perked up Mark, hope she can keep up the good work til your own vet is back! :Luv:
-
Indeed :)

The CRF rollercoaster
One of the problems is if I am given anything for her to take, it is virtually impossible. Even 1/4 pill squashed in a bit of Webbox will be left on the plate if it is hidden.

You would think the pharma companies could come up with meds in injection form for these such patients.... Its a total mare when you know they have to have them and they wont! :tired:
