Title: Received out of date food from VetUK
Post by: Mark on August 21, 2009, 14:35:18 PM
I ordered a couple of weight loss foods to try on Kylie and one was "Specific weight reduction"

It arrived a couple of hours ago and the expiry date is 13/08/2009   :tired:

I am off out now but will be emailing them on my return.

I had a problem before and they credited 1/2 the cost as the bag was already open - I am beginning to think I am jinxed.

This must be a new meaning of the word 'pure', hitherto unknown to me...

I got an email saying the food comes direct form their supplier and the date must have missed by them and missed again before it was sent out to me. They are issuing a refund. In a way I am glad as I didn't check the ingredients properly and this food contains NO MEAT WHATSOEVER  - it does contain fish but as the 5th ingredient  - In the bin it goes!

It may not be your...um...cup of tea ingredients wise but I'm sure the rescue cats would be happy to take it off your hands  ;)

I will ask Caroline if there are any overweight cats she wants to give it to but it would cost more to post than it is worth.

I normally give the hedgies any food mine won't eat or have left on the plate (dry food) but this has fish and also I'm not comfortable with something made from cellulose and cereal. Strangely, it has god stuff like omegas and Glucosamine added. It is supposed to be a veterinary diet.

They must have changed the recipe since my bag was made as mine doesn't mention chicken or psyllium. Given the shelf-life of dry food, the bag I have was probably made 3 or more years ago

I wouldn't even feed it to them. I don't want to make them ill.  :evillaugh:

Oh my goodness, those ingredients are  :censored: - how can they produce food like that and claim its suitable for cats? Main ingredient vegetable protein extract - i.e. soya, diabolical.

That is the new improved recipe Gillian  - my bag doesn't even mention chicken - which was about the 5th ingredient on that list  - this is "Veterinary Exclusive" food btw - the mind

I checked the other types and only the senior contains a small amount od meat. The kitten & adult has none in at all - I pity the cats that are fed it. No wonder it isn't selling.
