Title: Anyone feed the Whiskas senior small supermeat tins?
Post by: Mark on August 21, 2009, 07:40:55 AM
I used to get these but stopped as they weren't getting eaten. I bought a pack the other week when I was trying to persuade Clapton to eat and they are going down really well. I know they are a lot more expensive than the large tins of adult but they are really solid & meaty so you get around 4 meals out of a 190g tin. Each tin works out about the same price as a foil tray of Sheba (made by the same company  :shify: ) but you get twice as much weightwise and more than that in reality as it is so meaty. Anyway, for the time being, it will be added to my shopping list until they get bored again. The problem is, Alice is now turning her nose up at Felix senior pouches and I still have about 15 boxes "in stock"

Nope, I tried some from PAH when I had Schui and neither Schui nor Byron cared for them, they just like the ordinary supermeat in large tins.

Mine are fussy with them, but Kizzy likes them - they are incredibly hard to get hold of though

Mine love the "original" (beef?) in big tins but I never see it sold in single tins thesedays. Most shops only sell the chicken in singles and oddly, our local co-op only sells rabbit which none of mine like - although Alice just devoured the senior version.

I don't always see them but pretty sure we got them in Asda and I think Tesco still sell them.

My local Asda have stopped selling them - they have really gone downhill on cat food though, think I am going to have to start going to Asda for my food and Morrisons/Tesco for the cat food!!

I bought some for Jaffa recently and they went down well.  But then again, most things go down well with Jaffa  ;D  I think I got them from PAH.

Yes, I can only get the chicken and rabbit separately

I have hust been to a large Tesco - not an Extra but large and they had no Whiskas senior and no Purina One wet (Willow's favourite right now)

Just been to Sainsbury's - at least they had the Purina one wet but no Whiskas supermeat senior  :tired: - Asda didn't have any so I'm wondering if they have stopped selling it

Smartie will only eat Whiskers supermeat chicken in the tins ( and the occasional rabbit flavour)- its been hard to even find the rabbit recently (only seen it at Wilkinsons) , i can get the chicken one though but never seen the senior one at all .
Asda is really rubbish now with cat food -hardly any choice .
I have to go to Sainsburys for my cat food and do some of my shopping there now  and just get the rest of my shopping from Asda.

They also had Salmon in Jelly and rabbit & chicken in Jelly. They seem to have stopped doing the chicken in gravy which all mine love. Luckily the co-op still does it they also do the rabbit supermeat and that's it.

When I do get the senior supermeat, I have to get it from PAH, and it is a tad pricey - Kizzy has devoured her tin today though (thanks for reminding me I had some left!!) -she hates the Asda Tiger, which is a shame as that is on Rollback

Thanks - That is where I got it  :evillaugh: - I was racking my brain. I probably won't be back there for ages as I got 7 bags of litter last week.

This has gone down really well - especially with Alice but it's so hard to find. It looks like only Ocado and PAH are selling it now. It isn't available online from PAH either  :( - I looked at "My Supermarket" and it seems Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda have stopped selling it. It's a shame as you get 3 good portions out of a small can so it works out cheaper than pouches + IT ALL GETS EATEN!  :evillaugh:

I have only seen it in PAH Mark

I meant to post that I saw it in my local Co-op at weekend - bit more expensive than PAH surprisingly, it was £1.99 for 4 tins, am sure my PAH is £1.74. I have never managed to get 3 portions out of a tin though (although could with the kitten food)

Our co-op doesn't have it but it is only a small branch. The big one in Faversham has closed down and being turned into a Morrisons (It's a shame as it was a perfect buildong for a Waitrose  :( )

I think the co-op are more expensive for most things - they are just convenience stores really?

Thanks - that gave me an idea - I am going to have a look in the garden centre this morning as they have a lot of stuff there. They even sell Burns & RC food  :)

Do you have a local petshop you use a lot Mark, as most are willing to order things in, both the ones round here have ordered things in specially for me.

I don't use the local petshop - it is run by 2 old gossipy old dears (men  :evillaugh: ) and I hate it  :evillaugh:

Last year I asked if I could put a neutering poster up and he said yes - I went past the next day and it had been taken down.

I tried the garden/Pet centre and they didn't have it. I was offered Felix senior pouches by the clueless assistant and advised "you could try Tescos"  :tired:

They had the kitten one though  :tired:

I have the same trouble getting Whiskas supermeat, Tescos have stopped selling it and PAH don't seem to have it in now.

I have been all round Newark today and cannot find any anywhere -the pet shop said they could order some in -£26 for a pack of 24 i think -but they were full size tins !?

I have never seen full size tins of Whiskas senior. Even if they exist (which I doubt) that sounds expensive.

Will have a look in Lincoln on Monday - would like some for Smartie as he only likes supermeat (usually chicken or rabbit occasionally ) as he is 12 years old .
He is also still on his "thing" now for fresh cooked chicken -which he hasn''t wanted since i have had him ( at 18 months old !).
Now he can''t get enough of it and i now have to get one every week and he sits there sniffing when i get it out the bag - very strange after all these years !

Willow has gone mad for chicken - especially the skin, since she started on her CRF meds. Yesterday she got a cooked drumstick I was thawing ready to hide her pill in a bit of skin. When I went up to the kitchen, it was on the floor and she had peeled itt and eaten the skin and had eaten part of the meat like an apple  :evillaugh: - luckily there was a tiny bit of skin left to hid her pill in  :evillaugh:

If it's the multi pack senior supermeat you're after, mysupermarket.co.uk (they trawl tesco, asda, sainsburys and ocado) says only ocado does it. They also do a senior organic whiskas (?!) chicken and veggies. Have you tried that one out on your lot? Are the supermeat tins all chunky or could they be squashed into an easy to eat pate mush? Swampy is right off his food and I'm looking for things to try with him especially chicken ones that smell strong.

It's a smooth pate (not mousse like Hill's or Purina renal) but it seems firmer than the regular supermeat and strangely, unlike most senior foods, mine much prefer it to regular Whiskas supermeat. Also, you get 2 chicken, one tuna and one other (beef I think) in a pack.

it's odd that Mark because mine prefer sloppy and prefer the supermeat especially the jelly bits, one of the flavours -  I think chicken rabbit? although chicken is Byron's favourite food she doesn't prefer it because it's firmer than the beef or tuna.  I think that's what they like about the Classic too all the mushy jelly bits.

I tried a little pet shop in Herne Bay this morning when I went to collect Willow's pills. They didn't have it either  :'(

They have Orijen, Almo Nature wet & dry, RC wet & dry but no  :censored: Whiskas  :tired:

I bought a bag of Almo Nature salmon to try - Alice gave it the  :ok:
I was hoping Willow would eat some as although it has moderate phosphorus, it also has salmon oil and grapeseed oil - 2 things that are supposed to help with CRF.

All stocked up  :)

I bought 12 packs (48 cans) in PAH today so it should last a while - hopefully  :shify:

One good thing about this and the regular Whiskas supermeat is unlike the "In Jelly" and "In Gravy" versions, there is no cereal or vegetable protein so pretty much the same as Classic cat but more palatable (to mine at least)
You could do a lot worse. Iremember at one time, the only cat food in tins was supermeat - well it was more of a slop  :evillaugh:

Whiskas supermeat senior - Meat, meat byproducts, minerals, oils & fats
Whiskas supemeat adult - Meat, meat byproducts, minerals.

Wish i could find supermeat senior round here - tried everywhere but nothing.
Oscar my bridge boy used to like Arthurs ( and he looked like him too !) tuna and chicken was his favourite one .

Haven't you got a PAH or Waitrose nearby? - for some reason, PAH only sell it instore. I had a look on their website but couldn't see it.

You could always do a bulk order with Ocado of just cat food  :evillaugh:. I think you can get £10 off your first order  :shify:

Last year, I was buying tuna & chicken go-cat tins in Wilkinson's and mine went mad for it but they have stopped selling it. I don't know anywhere else that sells it.

Have to go past PAH on Monday to take Bungly to the vet-will nip in and have a look.
I have no shops at all near me -nearest shop for anything is 8 miles away - each way .
