Title: Scabs behind ears?
Post by: KatieJ on August 17, 2009, 21:05:37 PM
Hi there, am new >^^< I apologise if this is a frequently asked question but...

I have two boys, two years old.  They both have small scabs in the crease between the back of their ears and the top of their heads.  These scabs come and go.  I though perhaps it could be from scratching there.  They do go outdoors, but I don't think it can be parasites as they have monthly anti-flea mediacation from the vets on prescription, and no scabs anywhere else on their bodies.  Any ideas?

I'll go introduce myself on the intros thread now too :)

Ear mites, drives 'em mad. Got a little stray in that has scratched herself raw behind the ears and the tips of them as well. Had a quick look could not see anything, but she seems sore in her right ear, so treating for ear mites, if no improvement then off to the vets we go. No doubt, I will end up coming back with another stray!

Failing that have they been fighting? Ear tips, top of head and hocks and tail common places for cats claws to get caught.
