My girls were spayed yesterday (thursday morning) Evie has eaten and pooped (missing the litter tray grrr) but Ava has eaten and drank, but nothing is coming out the other end. Should I be getting worried? I am anyway, but is this long normal.

It can take 24 hours at least sometimes cos of the anesthetic, which one was the pregnant one....if nothing still tomorrow , I would just give the vet a ring, especialy if its the one that was pregnant.

Ava was the one who was pregnant, so it was a bigger op for her.
Im just not sure how I tell, who has done what!

My vet said that something that is an old cure can help. Condensed milk one teaspoon watered down and let her drink it if she will.............Ducha was like this after an op on his teeth and he was about 13/14 at the time and it worked.
At first he wouldnt drink it but then crept out at night and then shouted at me everynight till I had put it down but gradually weaned him off his sweet treat LOL

I would split them, but Evie cries for her Mam, although if she has already been this evening, she may not go tonight.

not sure! Ive cleaned out today and there was not much there, to say there are two cats, everything might be running a bit slowly due to GA. They are eating well, so thats a plus, but still very quiet

Do their wounds look ok, wearing a cone makes many cats unhappy, cant blame them! Imagine going to the loo wearing one of them :(

their wounds look fine, clean and calmed down now, they were a little red on the day. I did try taking their collars off but both of them had them back on within 30 minutes, due to pulling at the stitches. Just worried about Ava's toileting. they seem a bit down, but mainly sleeping and eating

If they still seem down on Monday and you dont seem to have had a result , speak to your vet

I'm thinking of phoning tomorrow morning, if there are no results, they are open a couple of hours. Ava just seems so sleepy and not interested in much else. She did have a good drink tonight, maybe that is what is needed.

Trigger never goes more than every other day - it may be just her habit, as you haven't had her long enough to know her ways yet
but we shall put her on Purrs :need loo: poop watch tonight

Wise move, better for him to say they are fine then not go and something is up. Are they both still eating? Its difficult when you havnt had cats long to know if toilet habits are normal or not

I think I have found what I was looking for ;D still not 100% though, but there was enough for three cats today!
It makes me worry even more now though as she is still the same size, her wound looks swollen under the skin, and I am now wondering if something is going on internally

Good that poos have arrived, how is she acting? Out of hours vet wont charge if you phone them for advice, id take her straight in for a check up in the morning

she is very quiet, just sat on the foot stool, just got a snugglesafe in the mic, hopefully that will make her feel a bit better, she has eaten a bit of tea but not all of it, and she ate breakfast and lunch, so I am not too worried about tea, esp. as it was quite a lot as I had the end of the chicken to give them.

does her wound feel hot to the touch? is it weeping? either would suggest an infection

no its clean and healthy, but she just isn't what I think is herself, it is hard to tell as I have only had her a week

because she was pregnant her hormones will be all over the place though - she may need longer than Evie to feel her normal self

OK I am freaked out now!!
I have been sat stroking her, she is lying on her wound, so Ive bee stroking the other side, and that is a lump, a very firm lump. I am rather worried now. I have has a rabbit die from post spay complications, I know this is nothing like it, but.. I have loads of stuff running through my head now, from big ole infections to a baby still left in there :censored: why did I choose this route!

Don't want to make light of the lump but is it at all possible that the lump could just be the chicken in her tummy that she had for tea? Many many years ago I brought Dingle RIP to the vet with a lump and that's what it was :-[

I suppose it could be, will check again in the morning, going to ring for advice anyway, she just isn't herself

Hope everything is Ok and you have spoken to the vet.....they can leave something inside sometimes and this could be why she is not comfortable.

How far was the pregnancy along into the spay? Im sure they would of been sortd out.

One of my fosters had a lump at the site, it happens in something like one in 50,000 spays and just needed a quick jab, so hopefully that is all it is with her. Good luck today

Hi,
Anesthetics can make you constipated
and the fact that she was half way through her pregnancy her homoans will be all over the place....i also wouldnt under estimate who much cats understand too !
I would pop her along to the vets xx

She seems very uncomfortable today, she is following me everywhere and scratching the carpets (which she has n't done before). She can't settle and is very vocal. got an appointment at 2.30

I would def take her back to the vets, same thing happened to Piccalli and it was an infection in the wound, I have never known for it to happen before and the vets say it is rare so I doubt that is what is happening, but be on the safe side as Piccalli went down hill very quickly. :hug:

I though that, she has had tummy wreching too.
Vet said there is nothing that that looks suspicious and not to underestimate what her hormones are doing to her body at the minute.

She has a good feel around and said it was nothing to be too worried about.

well she drove me mad last night, crying, and wanting me to be with her in her little 'nest' next to my bed, stroking her. this went on until bed time, when I put them in the living room. Litter tray was rather full again this morning, more a 4 cat household, if you see what I mean.
She seems to have settled again, and is guarding me from the rest of the world, in the computer room!!

I didn't want anything to dope her up, just wondered what would chill a cat out, remember I am new :innocent:
Anyway she has settled again, and everything is 'normal' she loves cuddles and attention, both of them sit with me at the computer, or with my OH in front of the telly. The have also discovered the back bedroom, and that the bed is right in the sun spot from about 1pm, so they have lazed on there today. I am going to miss them when I go back to work on monday. But they have plenty of toys, and I expect the will just sleep throught the day, and best of all they have each other

Just looked on vet uk wow what a price does it work? Also looked on Ebay but they are less than half the price, do you think they are genuine?
