Title: Mouse loose in the lounge - Bunty on guard! UPDATE - Misha helped
Post by: MrsR on August 12, 2009, 21:56:12 PM
Well the twins were sleeping, hubby was watching the footie and I was on Purrs when all the cats went mental scrambling behind the tv, me and hubby jumped up and pulled the tv out - hubby says he saw a mouse - we have pulled everything out but cannot find one but the cats are going insane and Bunty is on guard at the tv and not budging an inch.

No idea who brought it in and where it is.   I even got my pen torch out to doubl check in any small dark holes!

the big fear I have in this sort of situation is that the mouse will hide and die somewhere, and I won't know about it until decomposition sets in

They go dry and stiff trigger LOL but before that they can cause a real stink cos found one in my front room and could not work out what the smell was and couldnt see it.

Then found it in a corner  :(

I would ban the cats from the room and put a cat food box on oits side near where you think it is, put a piece of cheese in and hey presto caught mouse.

Takes them a while to get brave enough to come out but they do as long as there is no cats and no movement.

Well hubby saw it in the kitchen this morning so we had to pull out the washing machine and fridge to try and catch it.    Was a slippery little butter and hubby and I had a huge row ashe wanted to get it quickly but killin git and I wouldn't let him as wanted to catch it and let it free in the garden.   We tried for an hour and hubby left for work after our row.

Anyway I was feeding the girls and heard Misha running round the kitchen and she'd flushed it out - I caught the mouse and have set it free finally  :)

He said he was going to whack it  >:( then he said he'd get a trap  >:( and he didn't mean a humane one either.  >:(

He would never get it, they are far too quick, however id play him along and make sure all the heavy furniture you hate moving is shifted out and he can clean whilst hes looking for the mousey  :evillaugh:

I'd like to have seen him trying to "Whack" a mouse!  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Maybe you should set a mouse trap at the foot of your bed tonight (on his side!) as soon as it snaps on his toes I guarentee he'll never suggest using one again!

Either that, or make him remove any mice he catches from traps .....  Its a grim job - , or can be

30 years ago when I was first married (to my now ex) we had mice in our larder.  I couldn't bear the thought of poison - particularly not as I had a cat, so at first we hoped she would deal with the problem.  She did her best but .....  We ended up with a mouse trap that (stop reading now if you are squeamish .....) chopped them in half!!!

Talk about a powerful spring!!  Mr Wimp wouldn't deal with the result so I had to.  After two mashed mice, the others got the message and ..... no more meeces!!  :(

Trust me a mouse trap will never enter this house.

I have been off with him since he got back from work and have repeatily reminded him that I have released the mouse back to nature  :evillaugh:
