Title: How do you get a cat into a carrier?
Post by: Pinkbear (Julie) on August 10, 2009, 14:09:42 PM
Call taken on branchline today...

Caller: You are kindly arranging for a voucher to have my neighbours cat's neutered.

Me: Oh, yes...  :shy:

Caller: We don't think we can get him into the basket to get him to the vet.

Me: Oh, yes...  :shy:

Caller: The lady next door says when she picks him up he sticks his claws out. So how are we going to get him into the box?

Me: Likes his food, does he?  :innocent:

Caller: Oh, yes.... he's quite a little piglet!

Me: Open the carrier door, chuck in a cooked chicken breast, wait for puss to go in then shut the door behind him.  :sneaky:

Caller: Are you sure that's going to work???

Me: Yes  :tired:

Caller: Well I'll call you if it doesn't then...

Me: I'm sure it will work if puss loves his food as much as you say he does.  ;)

Caller: Yes he does... but he doesn't like chicken. Never touched if before. He much perfers a nice piece of fresh fish.... but we will give the chicken a try if you think it's going to work then.

Some people seem to be short a few marbles or something.

BTW - How do you get a cat out of a carrier  :scared:

Bought a new one on Saturday, Memphis walked in it made himself at home and fell asleep for a good few hours. Couldn't get him out.

Maybe the vet would be able to neuter the caller rather than the cat .... it really scares me that these people are are allowed to breed

I have some sympathy with the caller especially if she knows nothing about cats and the answer would not have worked for Sasa.

Sometimes I think some in rescue get fed up with what they see as stupid questions because they hear them often or, well they just seem daft.

However those who are not fully aquainted with cats have many problems and to get Sasa into a cage takes an SAS manoevre and have been putting it off for for the last few weeks..........its so stressfull for her and me

yeah I suppose you're right Gill .... we all "know" cats and these questions do seem obvious to us.  I suppose if I had to deal with a dog I would be asking just as many dim questions as I have never had any dealings with dogs.

Caller: Yes he does... but he doesn't like chicken. Never touched if before. He much perfers a nice piece of fresh fish.... but we will give the chicken a try if you think it's going to work then.
