With all the vet help, injections & tablets when we an get them down her.
I fear she is feeling that down, that she is slowly giving up :'( :'( :'(
She has stopped eating and only having a sip of water.
She is has lost weight and she is very weak.
I have been squeezing water into her mouth, as cant get a syringe untill tomorrow.
Is there anything that i can give her to help boost her up by syringe feeding her , Lactol maybe ?
The other 3 are sleeping alot, but are eating & drinking plenty of felix milk.
-
Liquivite is pretty good for cats that are ill and refusing food and water because it has both. It's not too expensive either.
Poor Splitz, she's your really nervous girl isn't she?
-
AD diet from the vets, about a £1 a tin and keeps in Frdge for a couple of days, most cats dont like liquivite but will eat aAD and its specially for convalecsing cats.
I do hope spitz doesnt give up and poor girl I bet she is just so scared
-
I didn't know most cats didn't like Liquivite, Gill. Toby used to drink it for us all the time when we were worried about his food and liquid intake - yet another example of how lovely the little Ginger Avenger was..... :Luv:
Hope Spitz keeps fighting, Tina.
-
Yes many more cats will eat ad which can also be syringed and so many hate liquivite.
Kocka stopped eating AD for a time and got some L from vet and he warned me that many cats dont like it and she didnt.
Luckily she went back to eating AD off my finger ;D
-
Mine all loved Liquivite, even those who didnt really need to be drinking it!
Its definitely worth a try, as is A/D. When Sam was poorly I sat and hand fed him pieces of chicken, maybe you could try that for Splitz.
-
Sending positive vibes Splitz's way
-
you must tell Splitz that we are not going to tolerate any more tragedies on here, and she better pull herself together and get those antibodies working :Luv2:
-
Have you any Lectade ?If not you could try some from the vet tomorrow and syringe it into her .
:crossed: She starts to pick up tomorrow
-
:( If she is so bad I wonder whether maybe the vet could keep her just for a short while and put her on a drip feed just to try and boost her up?
Hope she pulls through this, tons of love going her way
-
Thanks for your replies.I am going to ring the vet again in the morning.
They dont keep animals overnite, their emergency care goes to the animal a & e pet hospital where we rushed Pod, and they didnt
do anything for him, which is why the vet took pod straight in the next morning.
They have all been eating chicken snce they have been poorly (was hand feeding them), splitz aint having any of it now.
The vet said the injections she has been getting should boost her up, it did the others & they are all eating & drinking properly again.
She just doesnt seem to have the will like the others, her age concerns me :'(
-
her metabolism will be slower than the others though, as she is older, so the abs may take longer to work
she may surprise you in the morning - I do hope so
-
Sending lots of good vibes for Splitz.
-
She has brought back her ab tablet again.
I am having to hold her mouth open & drip water into it,
Gonna give the others their nite time tablet and take them all to bed.
Feel like poo myself.
Praying things are better in the morning
:wish:
-
:( It will be hard to help her if she's not getting her meds down, hope she's a bit brighter this morning or the vet can give her something to help her xx
-
Fingers crossed you had a good night with her, and hope the vet can give her something like a VitB jab to boost her, and maybe some sub-q fluids, they dont tend to want to eat if they are dehydrated. I would go for a/d over Liquivite, I have never found a cat that liked Liquivite yet.
-
Up n down thru the nite with splitz.
Found her lay in the bath all limp. She is at the vet at 2pm today
Worried now that i amy have to let her go :'( :'( :'(

-
My mum has given her cats egg yolk when they have been unwell, and its perked them up. Pm Bazsmum for details of that Tina as im not 100% sure how she done it.
Hope something can be done for the little one

Going back to see her at 7pm to see how she has responded.

Thanks for you comments x
Have brought her home for the nite. She has stopped being sick and they have given her another injection.
Poor girl is going back to vets at 9am in the morning. She dosnt feel so bad when i pick her up, she was ridgid.
If she does not lap then its another day on the drip tomorrow.
She seems to be shaking her leg, dont think she is impressed with the bandage.
-
Fingers crossed she has a good night - is she eating anything yet? Have you tried her with anything like sardines in tomato sauce?
-
That is better news, hope that Spitz feels much better come tomorrow
-
This sounds good and Franta had a catheter in his leg when he was ill the first time and he hated the bandage,
Just make sure her foor doesnt start to swell cos it means its on too tight if it does
Come on Splitz you can do it

Have got Splitz home for the nite again.
She can only have so much fliud from the drip.
She is very unwell, i asked the vet for advice on her pulling thru, he gave me that look,
said they have done & given her all they can :'(
and said take her home, see what kind of nite she has.
Hopefully all the ab's she has had should help, but she needs to eat.
And all the things that cats love, she wont have any of it :'(
She is in the spare room having some rest. The drip is out now.
Bless her, she has 2 shaven little legs.
We keep going in the room to clean her face.
Its all we can do at this stage :'( :'( :'(

When my Gypsy got cat flu, about 4 yrs ago, (she was about 7rs old then) she was terribly ill like Splitz, I thought I would lose her then. She wouldnt eat either. It was over a week before I could get her to even try to eat, although I'd been syringing Liquivite to give her some nutrients. She needed several course of antibiotics and I'd say it was a good 2-3 weeks before she really well again. She had that look of giving up too - I was convinced she would - but she pulled through that time (I lost her last year to pneumonia/tumour sadly). Hope your Splitz will pull through
-
Been back to vets with Splitz.
He has given her another 2 injections today. One was to help clear her breathing.
She has had everything now to help give her that boost,
he said see what she is like in 24hrs.
She has had a purr since we brought her back home, but she has also been sick :'( :'(
-
Fingers crossed she has a good night and she just needs a bit longer to fight this
-
I am sending vibes that she is ok. Poor baby girl. I hope she is ok xxxxxx
-
She started to breathe thru her nose for an hour or so after the injections.
Now my baby is back to breathing thru her mouth, and when she swallows she seems to be
gettin distressed. She is back to looking the way she was this morning :'( :'( :'(
I am trying to be strong for her and try not cry infront of her, but its so hard i cant hold back the tears.
mick is going to be staying up with her again thru the nite, so he is grabbin his sleep now.
I just feel so helpless and dont know what to do now
My other 3 babies keep sittin at the spare bedroom door, but they cant go in to see their big sis,
as they are all still on antibiotics and have to keep them away from her :'( :'( :'(
Thank you all for your kind words & vibes xxx
-
Do they know what is wrong with her Tina? Sorry if I am ignorant and have missed this somewhere.
-
Do they know what is wrong with her Tina? Sorry if I am ignorant and have missed this somewhere.
They have all come down with cat flu, and a lot of fluid on her lungs.
Pod was really poorly with it, but hospitalization for one day and medication
perked him up. Rolo and Flora were not as bad.
But Splitz bless her, the medication does not seem to e kicking it off.
I know the other will take a few weeks before they are back to normal, but thay are all eating & wanting out again (which they are not allowed yet)
But Splitz is 14, and the others are all younger. Pod is 4, Rolo 3 & half & Flora is about 2.
-
OMG poor babies.
-
Thinking of Splitz tonight and just hoping that she improves poor girl :wish:
-
Thank you xx
This is the part of having furbies i can not deal with :'( :'( :'(
Dont know what to do for the best :'(
-
My thought is that you give her as much chance to get better that you can, with the vets advice to be taken into account also
-
I'm so hoping Splitz can pull through this Tina, tons of love heading her way
-
Tina, it's the hardest thing when they get really ill. to both you and Mick.
Come on Splitz, sweetheart.
-
just keep strong, and stay positive! im realy hoping she will pull through! just give her lots of cuddles and TLC etc and im sure she will pull through.
lots of love to you and splitz
-
My girl is just the same. Mick has stayed up with her all nite, keeping her face clean & trying to get fluid into her.
She is just sick straight after she had had fluid, only akling a couple of mil in a syringe.
I come down stairs earlier to make a coffee & when i went back up to her, she had been sick again,
and she didnt even move her head from it :'( :'(
Gotta ring the vet this afternoon, there is still that chance my girl can pick up :wish: :wish: :wish:
come oin splitz, please sweetheart XXXXXXXXXX
-
Tons of positive, healing vibes coming Splitz's way~~~~~Surely there has to be something the vet can assist her with? :scared: :wish: :grouphug:
-
Tried allsorts to kick her back, she seems to have lost interest :'( :'( :'(
The others eyes are runny again aswell and they are still on anti biotics, so looking like they will all be back for a vet visit.
-
 Thinking of you and yours Tina and my thoughts are with you all! x
-
I wonder if the vet needs to keep her in now for more intensive care, perhaps get her in an oxygen tent to help with her breathing etc. I would ring the vet now and see if you can get her straight in.
-
