Had a bad weekend with the babies. Unfortunately, on Sunday I lost two of the Jacksons :'( Both Michael and Latoya went downhill very quickly, refusing food and becoming very lethargic. Within a couple of hours Latoya had passed to the Bridge, followed a couple of hours later by Michaal.
Then, had to rush Storm to the Vet this morning with suspected pyometra. Had held off having her spayed as she was such a small kitten and vet had said to wait until she was older :( Last night she started having a horrible discharge, which I couldn't work out which "exit" it was coming from
Vet confirmed this morning she thinks it is an open pyometra so she is now at the Vet awaiting surgery.
Luckily, did a car boot yesterday and raised £150 so that should cover her vet fees.

how horrible hun, hope Storm is ok
-
How terrible and RIP Michael and Latoya
I hope that Storm can be helped and sending lots of good vibes

RIP little ones, and good luck for Storm today - how old is she?
She's just coming up for a year old Des, but is still only the size of a five/six month old kitten. She was one of the ones found in a cardboard box last August. She was due to be spayed shortly but the vet and I have been waiting for her to grow a bit.
-
what a shame, so sorry Leslie
RIP sweet little ones xx
hope Storm is ok
-
That is an incredibly young age to get pyo, poor baby
-
I can't get over what a sad time we are all having of it. Are cats/kittens getting more poorly? Is it because we can't get to them quick enough?
RIP little ones.
-
How sad! :( RIP Little ones x
Fingers crossed for Storm at the vets, hope she will be okay! :wish: :Luv:

Report from the vet is that Storm did not have a pyo but she has been spayed anyway. It would appear she has a severe infection of the vagina, causing the discharge. She is staying in the hospital overnight on fluids and antibiotics and the Vet will phone me to let me know how she is doing in the morning. Not the best time to spay her but as she was having to investigate the uterus anyway it was best to do the spay now.
Vet as well as me are slightly baffled as to what has caused the infection and how fast it came on, she was fine Sunday morning.
Will report tomorrow when I have further info.
Thanks for all the kind wishes for Storm, will pass them on to her tomorrow. :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Lesley our Storm sends your Storm all the best feral fury head rubs and hope she will be home tomorrow
-
lots more good wishes for storm
-
Glad it wasn't pyo, and fingers crossed they can clear the infection up, very bizarre.
-
This morning Storm is still passing alot of pus from somewhere  and is now off her food. The vet is consulting at the moment so am waiting for her call as to what happens next. Bill is already £180 so that's all the car boot money gone in one lump :-[ and two more kittens to pick up this lunchtime :'(. It certainly never rains but it pours.
-
poor storm - hope they can sort her out - two more Lesley, I was sure you were full

Obviously not as full as what is advertised as the largest RSPCA re-homing shelter in the Uk - because they refused to take them.
-
Storm is becoming a baffling case. Vet has now decided that discharge is not from vulva but from anus. I must admit it is hard to tell as she is discharging alot of pus and it spreads over her back end, but vet is now convinced it is from her anus, so her spay could not have been done at a worse time really, whilst she is full of some sort of infection :(
She is not eating and is very thirsty so, as well as having plenty of water to drink she is still on a drip. They are going to do full bloods and also send a sample of discharge to Labs to see what can be found out but she will be staying in the hospital for the time being so any spare cash we may have raised at the boot sale lately has been well and truly used up twice over I think.
-
Poor little storm and do hope they can help her
-
how worrying that they have no idea what is going on
-
Oh my "yes" how baffling? I do hope she will be okay bless her, she has been through some trauma of late.... :ahh:
Sorry to hear that any cash top ups you had are now being depleated....Hope something financially turns up for you! :Luv:
-
Hope they can discover whats wrong with Storm, best wishes for her :Luv2:
-
Thinking of you Lesley and sending lots of healing vibes to Storm.
-
Sending lots of healing vibes for little Storm, do hope she can fight this off
-
Fingers crossed she has a better night and they can figure out what is wrong with her, poor baby
-
Very sorry to hear about the Jackson babies, and keeping everything crossed the vet can suss out what's causing Storm's illness and get it cleared up. Poor Storm.
-
hope the vets can soon fathom out what is wrong with poor Storm xx
-
Storm is still baffling the Vets. She has eaten a little but basically everything she takes in is coming out the other end within a couple of hours almost in the same state it went in as, whether it be food, pro kolin or anything.
She seems brighter in herself and the Vet is going to see how she goes without being on the drip today. Basically all we can do is wait for blood and faecal results from the Lab, though the In house bloods show nothing outstanding.
She is interested in what is going on around her and is purring again now but until we have some answers she will have to stay at the hospital. I must admit I miss my little girl :'(

We've had a few strange tummy bugs this year. Can't remember the name of it and our Welfare lady is away. Something beginning with G. 1 adult plus 2 kittens I think it total since Easter. The vet said it was a human virus. Anyway, they are scratching their heads too as it is so rare for cats to get this and all cases here came from different places and being cared for by different fosterers. The good news is that it requried a special human antibiotic and problem cleared. ;) When she comes back I'll ask her what it was. :sneaky:
Big hugs for Storm.  :Luv2:
-
Fingers crossed for Storm and her test results :wish:
Julie was it giardia?
-
More positive vibes for Storm~~~~~She is in the best place possible! ;) :Luv:
-
Julie was it giardia?
It could be, MM. Not really sure though. :shy:
-
Thinking of Storm today and wishing her well! :Luv:
-
I've only just seen this Lesley, I'm so sorry to hear about the little Jacksons and about Storms illness, it certainly sounds like an odd one! I hope the vet can figure out what is causing the infection and treat it. She is obviously a little fighter! The girls are sending purrs and headbutts and I will be sending get well vibes Storms way!
-
Just spoken to the Vet and there is no change really in Storm, still dripping something mysterious from her backside  and still everything passing through her.
Every vet in the practice has had a look at her case notes now and they are all baffled. Bloods came back with a high white blood cell count, which is what was expected to be seen with such an infection but we are basically now waiting for faecal culture to throw some light on the diagnosis. Vet is starting treatment with metronidozale today, so maybe that will have some effect. :crossed:
Poor cats at home are getting very worried about me as I keep lifting their tails and checking on their backsides , they are all getting a bit of a complex
Bill up to £417 now so last week's boot money and this week's as well already used up. :'(
-
nobody else is sick are they Lesley - I hope not for your sake - hope the meds do help her

Nope, everyone else is fine and dandy. :thanks:, apart from my Golden Retriever who decided to throw his breakfast up immediately after eating this morning  :censored:
-
well I suppose that is something - still a bit odd though, as it has come out of nowhere
-
Poor Lesley!
It's awful when they present with a problem like this, with no obvious cause. Keeping fingers crossed too, for Storm.
I reckon Golden Retriever wanted a bit of fuss too. :)
-
Chi, Golden Retriever, just eats too fast :evillaugh:
-
:( poor Storm, hope the meds help
-
just caught up with this Lesley as not been on the board for a few days and I'm so sorry to hear about the Jacksons and poor little storm!
sending lots of healing vibes and  for you ... come on storm you can do it kiddo!!!
Does sound very baffling though can't think of anything similar we've encountered at all. She couldn't have ingested something she shouldn't have?? xx
-
Fingers crossed for Storm and her test results :wish:
Julie was it giardia?
Giardia isn't that rare in cats though MM (at least not when you use American forums, it is mentioned a lot).
Fingers crossed the test results show something easily treatable Lesley.
-
Lots more good wishes for Storm
-
Thinking of Storm today and hoping that her bottom starts to calm down soon, I think its even worse for you not knowing what they are up against!
Hope the meds sort her out pronto! :Luv:
-
A glimmer of light - Storm seems to be doing a bit better. She is not passing as much "yuck" as she was and has eaten a little. Emily, my vet, says that what she has passed can hardly be called normal but it is definitely not as disgusting as in the past and definitely not as much, so hopefully the metrinidozale seems to be doing it's stuff.
They are keeping her in again tonight and we will re-assess tomorrow but she may be able to come home if things continue to improve.
So pleased keep all fingers cross for my little girl. :thanks:
-
All fingers and paws crossed here  for Storm - lets home she can be home tomorrow
-
 Everything crossed for Storm xx

I do hope she has turned the corner and will get stronger and stronger
-
Hope she has had a good weekend
-
been thinking of you and storm hun. hope she is much better and home with you very soon! for you both
-
Hoping Storm has improved.
-
Thanks everyone for enquiring and sorry for the lack of response, been hectic here with more kittens coming in and some needing handrearing at only three days old.
Storm stayed in the hospital over the weekend but has improved considerably. Is eating better, passed a horrible green poo, but at least it was definitely a poo and not pus and it proves things are working inside.
Hoping she may be able to come home today but will report when I have further news. I feel really guilty because we just haven't had time to visit her, vets is approximately 15 miles away and with the babies here and car-booting to raise money at the weekend just had no time, but I know she has been in good hands and getting lots of fuss.
-
So pleased that Storm is on the up
-
Sorry for the delay in up-date, my computer refused to get on to the internet for two days - STORM IS HOME :wooooo:.
I think she is a little shell shocked over everything but she is on the mend and, although on medication etc, is definitely improving.
-
Thats great ;D
-
Glad to hear that Storm is now home..... ;D
Im sure she will be feeling fine in no time! ;)
-
So so pleased. Sending gentle snuzzles to Storm, and may she continue to make a speedy recovery, especially now she's home where she belongs. :cat rub:
