On Monday 13 July Holly was taken to the vet with a sickness bug. They kept her in the hospital on a drip due to having lost to much fluid. The vet told us that she had an infection of the stomach and lower bowel. We took her home on Wednesday apart from being weak and unsteady on the feet she was fine, but not eating much. Over the next 2 days her condition stayed the same on Saturday she stop eating and was just laying in her bed and I said to my husband that she was waiting too die and at 17 years old she could not fight anymore old age had finally caught up with her.
On Sunday morning the vet came out and he looked at Holly and said she was not going to get any better and if we left her has she was Holly would have a slow death because she was wasting away. Holly was PTS and it was very quick it only took seconds for Holly to die. The vet said that we did the right thing and she only had a few days left to live anyway and keeping her alive would have been cruel. This does not make me feel any better!
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
I have cried enough tears to build my stairway! :(

Hello and :welcome: to Purrs, sorry that you found us under such sad circumstances
_________________________________________________
A soft full tail, exquisite eyes,
soft purring at the door,
playful swatting, frequent naps,
toys strewn across the floor.
With gentle rubs and playful purring
you made your presence known
and, knowing you were always there,
we never felt alone.
You loved it when we scratched your ears,
we swear it made you smile.
We could never stay angry with you,
we couldn’t if we tried.
The soft sweet purring now has ceased,
no gentle rubs to greet us,
just memories of a special friend
and good times are all we see.
Although we miss you dearly,
we’ll try not to feel so blue,
because we know that there’s a bridge
for special cats like you.
:RIP: Holly

I am so sorry .... we all know what you are going through. My Sandy boy was pts over two years agao and it is so hard, but you did the right thing with the right intention of compassion and your baby will know this and love you from the rainbow bridge for it . She had 17 years with you and you didn't want her to suffer out of love for her. take care xx
