Why is it always late at night ?? -he was fine all day and evening -then started with the runs around midnight.
He was eating normally though , he is on his usual cat food - no diet change, he doesnt go out of the garden - so no idea why he has got this. ( i gave him some Lacto B in his food last night too )
I got up this morning and he had been sick about 5/6 times ( kitchen floor , so easily cleaned ) in all 5 litter trays he had the runs - all down his trousers too .
I had to wash his back end and he is usually the most placid cat -but he swore and cursed the whole time .
Anyway off we went to the vet again ( 2nd visit this week already ) - he has given him a anti biotic injection , a steroid injection and some Lectade .
He wants him to go back to check on tomorrow - but mentioned Hepatitis or liver problems !? and was talking about blood tests to see .
He is not jaundiced and gums healthy and pink , no temperature .
He hasn''t now been sick or to the loo for around 7 hours , so i am hoping it was a 24 hour bug -where from , i have no idea.
Not sure he needs any blood tests though -also he hates and detests the car- it stresses him and he howls the whole 12 miles each way .
Please send healing vibes for my baby - thankyou
-
Aww poor boy, hope you feel better soon lovely x
-
Sending healing vibes to Smartie....7 hours is a good length of time when you are talking about sickness/dia. ;)
Get Well Soon Smartie! :Luv:
-
Poor Smartie, hope he's starting to feel much better now
-
Awww poor Smartie. Hope he's had no more problems.
-
we wouldn't expect to be given blood tests for a spot of transient d&v, so I don't see the need for a cat either, unless the problem persists, or the cat is very distressed
-
He has had this once before -about 3-4 years ago . Antibiotics sorted it out then.
-
I hope Smartie is feeling better now xxx
Big  Bungly
-
Hope Smartie is better soon  We had this a while back, a few of them had it and I was all set to take Sam to the vets (was worried about him because of his heart), but he picked up, and the others quickly recovered too, so didnt need to go in the end.
-
Hope Smartie stays dry and I agree with Trigger ;D
-
Well, within half an hour of being back from the vets he was up and about , outside and looking for food.
He has eaten some Hills i/d and hasn''t been sick or to the loo for around 10 hours now -so it looks like its passed .
He said to take him back tomorrow -even if he seems okay ?? - is there any need ?? Its just that he hates the car so much ( and the basket)
If i had waited he would have been okay i think -but i suppose its better safe than sorry !
He has been asleep in his heated bed ( put it back on yesterday for him !) and is now flat out in fromt of the fire which i put on half an hour ago for him.
:crossed: thats the end of it and hope none of the others get it now !!!
-
Maybe he had a chill.
I wouldnt take him back my self, especially as he hates it so much, well not unless he got ill again
-
Glad to hear that Smartie is feeling a lot better, fingers crossed it was just a one off
-
Hope he hasn''t got a chill because i turned the heated beds off as it was so hot !!??
I saw him get in the other day when it was still on and 10mins later he got out and laid in front of it , so i thought it was time to turn them off - they are back on again today and still on - and i have put my quilt back on the bed as its gone chilly here now
He still seems to be okay and has had a big cuddle around my neck !!!
I knew he was ill this morning - i could sense it as he didn''t come upstairs when the alarm went off which he almost always does if he isn''t there already - this morning , no sign after a few mins , so i immedietly thought that wasn''t right - too true , bless him.
-
Glad that Smartie is much better now :)
-
Fingers crossed he is much better today, and I would be tempted not to take him back
-
Smartie has been fine since about an hour after coming back from the vets yesterday , tonight he was playing with a toy mouse and throwing it round the kitchen.
I didn''t take him back today -but about an hour ago he started this sort of chewing /grinding his teeth ( he does this sometimes when about to be sick !) but he hadn't anything in his mouth !!
I am now worried he is going to be ill again and i wish i had taken him back after all -even though he has been totally fine - i just have this feeling he might start with it again tonight with him doing this .
I hope its only me worrying and he stays okay - you never stop worrying about them :scared:
-
Its hard not to worry but I am sure he is going to be fine
-
cats nearly always sit hunched up if they have a belly ache, so I would be inclined to go more by that
-
No, he isn''t hunched up -he just keeps "chewing" - its like a cow chewing cud :-:
He is fine in himself .
-
So glad Smartie is on the mend! ;D :Luv:
-
Hope he is better today
-
Hope Smartie is back to old self now xx
-
Smartie was a bit "off" again last night and this morning as he didn''t jump on me when the alarm went off- he was definately not himself again -so we have been back to the vets again !!!
He has had another 2 long lasting injections - he howled all the way there and back - came home and he ate some Hills i/d , went outside and is laying on his back sunning himself !!! Does he loook ill or seem it ?? NO ! not at all !!!- Talk about keep you on your toes !
-
if only they had to pay the vet bills :sigh:
-
Too true !!! - it was £300 a couple of weks ago for poor Bungly - then £30 on Monday when i took her back to get her checked , some more tablets and some flea stuff - then £30 on Wednesday for Smartie and then another £20 today .
I have to go to Lincoln cat show tomorrow for cat food and litter -another £100 - talk about skint !!!
-
Hope these meds do the trick xx
-
Blooming cats! ;D
-

-

-
Touch wood Smartie is now fine - i got someone to check on him yesterday as i was out from 8am till 5pm and he has been fine , cuddles as normal last night and this morning.
I got 2 bags of food and 6 bags of cat litter yesterday , hopefully will last till the next cat show at Doncaster now.
They also got a couple of cat nip toys too and some Almo Nature- which was given to them last night and still there this morning !!!
So pleased he is ok now -he has enough troubles as it is and tablets !
-
