Title: Just been given the Jackson 5
Post by: LesleyW on July 01, 2009, 22:16:10 PM
Had a phone call from the PDSA to say they had a client whose cat had given birth but mum has been taken ill and is unable to feed them.

Spoke to said owner and said I would handrear if she wanted.  She brought them round to me this evening and they are called  - Michael. Jermaine, Latoya, Janet and !!Jo!! - they couldn't remember a 5th Jackson. :innocent:  Luckily they got the names right for the sexes apart from Jo who is a girl so she will be a female Jo.

So it's no sleep again - at least I did get a couple of weeks with uninterrupted nights. :tired:

I know I always promise but will try to get some piccies - well you can live in hope  :shy:

Mum is being spayed on Friday.  Very early after pregnancy but I think the Vet is worried she has infection in her womb, so they want to get everything out to be on the safe side and save her any more pain or the infection spreading.

Unfortunately, the Jackson 5 have become the Jackson 4 and, no it was not Michael that we lost.

Little Janet, the runt of the litter just did not thrive like her littermates and despite some intensive nursing she passed away in her sleep but at least she was warm and loved.

Hopefully, the other four are thriving well and I have never heard such loud kittens at 2 weeks old, they can scream the house down at feeding time.

Am hoping to give them a bit of a clean up this evening (am I the only one whose kittens seems to get mucky - oh for a mum to do the cleaning  :-:)  will try and get some piccies of them then.

I'm sorry to hear about little Janet. At least she knew love and companionship in her short life. Play hard at the Bridge, little one. :(

I'm glad to hear that the remaining Jacksons are thriving. Are you going to be rehoming them or will their Mum's owner be having them back?

They've asked me to re-home them.  The mum cat needs all their attention, she had a very poorly pregnancy and was spayed almost immediately after giving birth - I think it was a bit traumatic for the owners to be honest.

Poor mum cat :( I hope she recovers soon. Fingers crossed you find homes for the Jacksons. You've done a wonderful thing by taking them on

What a story. Respect for you, it must be very hard work.
I'm busy a lot of time with one kitten, app 6 weeks but needing special care too.
RIP Janet
