I've read through some of the insurance related threads on here but am struggling to decipher which is best
I have whittled it down to Petplan "covered for life" or AXA and as far as I can see, the only difference is that Petplan covers up to £4k vet fees and AXA covers up to £7k.
The premium for Petplan is coming in at £3 a month cheaper so the premium alone is hardly a deal-breaker. I also heard that the charity keep benefitting if i continue with petplan after the 4 weeks free ends - is this true?
Is the choice really this simple? I feel like I might be missing a trick.

I think axa offer the best value for money at the monent, but insurance companies do have a habit of altering the goal posts regularly. Petplan do actually offer a "cat" policy too (or did) which offers £6000 cover but for some reason they don't seem to advertise that. I was offered it for just a few pence more when I rang up to insure mosi 3 years ago on the 4k plan. I have had good experiences with petplan paying up in the past and with them covering stuff (such as a dental for jaffa). But I let the policies expire and am now with axa. Not made a claim with axa yet but they are a good bit cheaper, esp for older cats. for the moment.

I don't have any experience with Petplan, but can wholly recommend AXA who have been paying promptly for Max's thyroid and kidney problems over the last year and a half. He was insured as an older cat with FIV, so I was not confident that they would cover anything, but they've surprised me and have been great so far ;D

Oooh that's interesting. Online it just shows the value plan, the £4k one and then a £12k one (which is a few pence over £20 a month for Samson).

I use the 6k cat plan, again it was arranged over the phone ;D
Iv had very speedy payment for a large claim with petplan and it arrived quick enough to have paid my credit card off with their cheque :wow:

Hmmm well maybe I'll have to give them a call before the free period ends then. They never told me about it when I rang to activate that!
If it's cheaper than AXA then I may aswell continue with them.
Thanks!
