I am usually SO careful about keeping the windows shut, but like to give the bedroom an airing when i get up.. i think i forgot to close it this morning and i've just come back from being out this afternoon and Penguin's gone :'( She's never been outside before so doesn't know the area at all and if she comes into the garden the chances are my dogs will scare her off again :'( Have no idea what to do but am thankful that she is at least chipped and wearing her collar... and she can't have hurt herself too badly by falling if she's not in the garden...
Can't believe i was so stupid.... >:( :'(

Oh hunnie, we had this with Sylvester years ago when we moved and the only window open was a small one upstairs and I was beside myself thinking he was injured, plus not knowing the area at all etc but he came home a few days later.
Hopefully Penguin is just a little stunned and will come home.
-
Oh bless her - have a look in and around all the bushes and shrubs that she could be hiding in because she probably wont have gone far. Has she been spayed yet?
-
Oh no!
Having not been in this situation before I'm not sure what to advise. Have you got a box of temptations you can rattle whilst calling her?
-
When Sylvester returned he was only over the back fence as he smelt of the forest that backed onto our house - we had gone round callign for him but obviously hid away till he felt brave enough to come out.
-
Good luck Beth - I agree she probably hasn't gone far  - maybe try the hoover bag contents or worn clothes outside the back door?

I'VE FOUND HER!!!!!
Just shut doggies in and went out calling her and shaking biscuits, and heard a pathetic little miow, tracked her down to behind a box and she's fine ;D very dirty and scared but fine. Massive sigh of relief and lesson well learnt.
-
Oh no poor penguin, this is my number one fear. Just terrified of one of my boys escaping through the window.
Is there any way you can bring the dogs in so they don't scare her off? Hope she comes back soon, I second the rattling treats motion.
Hope you find her soon.
*edit* you must have just posted as I did- so happy you found her!!!!

Oh phew! Glad you found her

YAY glad you found her x

Glad you found her and she's fine. Skye fell out of our bedroom window yesterday. We took her straight to the vet and she's been back today for a tooth removed.

Just to say thanks everyone for thinking of us, she's now fine, seemed a bit shocked to start with but back to her normal self now, i'll check her over more thoroughly later but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her. :) I did phone vets straight away in case she'd been taken in or anything, so they're already aware if i need to take her up. Bless her, she needs a good wash though, her face is filthy! :Luv2:

Glad you found her. :)

Phew! So pleased she's OK, must have been an awful fright for both her and you
Do you have a Lidl near you? Saw on HUKD they are doing insect screens on offer next week - 2 pack for £2.99, whilst they wouldn't stop a detrmined 'escape' they would stop a curiosity fall and give you a chance to close the window if they're showing too much of an interest.

Chilli felt out of one of our windows last summer, under the window is a pitched roof so luckily she didn't go straight down. All I heard was this claws on slate noise. Luckily they do go out the front door every so often so she knew where to go to get back in.
Glad Penguins ok, its pretty scary isn't it!

You have just described word for word what happened when Tiggy (a ginger girl too) fell out of my bedroom window as a youngster - the claws on slate noise and sheer look of panic on her face as she realised she couldn't save herself has never left me :evillaugh:

What a relief - so glad that Penguin is okay after her "adventure" x
