One again a certain charity seems to have got it wrong, no surprise there then.
Someone thought a cat in their garden was a stray and called said charity, who within a hour of collecting the cat took it to a vet for PTS because they thought it a stray and vicious. Apparently the cat Luna was 3 years old belonged to a neighbour and was a lovely little soul. Described by the owner as the nicest cat in the world. (I am sure we will let the owner think that as it is such a sad time for them but I think many of us know different.)
To me even if it had been a 'they who must be obeyed type’ it deserved to live and also as we all know a cat that can seem ‘difficult’ can once it knows you be the sweetest thing on four legs.

OMG so they actually put the cat to sleep without trying to find its owner first? >:( Im sorry but I would be taking them to court :censored:

SADLY NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.
I remember the case of the old cat a few years ago, it was pts in the back of the van....it was a much loved cat, fit and well but old

:mad2: :mad2:
-
If the cat was chipped surely they would have a case for going to court against them, stealing property and destroying it. (that sounds cold but you know what I mean)
Poor little mite, it didn't deserve that in any way.
-
Surely there is something the owners can do? I would be fuming >:(
-
Was that locally Ela? Poor Luna, I hope her owner is coping.
-
How awful! :(
-
It was in Goole and the owner is taking legal action.
-
They disgust me and they are a law unto themselves >:(
I would want to PTS whichever "officer" MURDERED the poor baby >:(
-
It was in Goole and the owner is taking legal action.
It won't bring the poor cat back and they always manage to worm their way out of things - I hate them >:(
-
I'll look up the story later. It does annoy me; as Michelle said this happened a few years ago too.

I remember that case, but there have been far more than most people realize. Unfortunately I cannot say too much. The stories that reach the papers are I think only the tip of a very large iceberg.

Good.
It won't bring back their cat but it may stop them from doing it to someone elses.

My god! - they 'apologise profusely for this UPSETTING incident' - upsetting?!!! I'd call it more than upsetting >:( What the hell is wrong with them??? >:( >:(

'apologise profusely for this UPSETTING incident' - upsetting?!!! I'd call it more than upsetting
Possibly they mean upsetting for them as yet again they have been caught out.
-
:RIP: Luna
-
:'( awful. They have lost the plot once again! Money Monery money! >:(
-
I really hope they get a HUGE fine - It's not as if the animals will be missing out as they barely spend ant money on treatment - it all goes on their huge propaganda machine.
-
surely there is a procedure for taking in strays???? they must have to keep them longer than an hour or two
-
I bet they will stick to their "vicious" story. >:(
-
I honestly can't believe this, so glad all mine are indoor and chipped or about to be chipped. There is just no excuse for this.
Poor little Luna.
-
I am glad to hear that the RSPCA are being taken to court.....they deserve no pity for this revolting act >:( >:( However I think considering the numerous cases of this nature that have occured, a class action is called for...it carries much more clout in the media and the courts.........
Is it just the Red tops that are carrying this story? 'cos I think the broadsheets should be made aware as well...then all demographics that give money to these :censored: will be made aware of their true nature..
TIME FOR THESE SODS TO BE EXPOSED :mad2: :mad2:
RIP sweet Luna :RIP:

:censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:
Seems your lucky to get 7 days reprieve now adays >:(
If any of my lot were plucked out the garden they may act vicious, hissing growling, they wouldnt hurt anyone but they would pretend to be mean out of fright :(

A link to a Facebook group set up by Harry Hamilton..re Lunas plight.

Another group set up by a German Shepard rescue to bring attention to RSPCA apathy and inattentivness....

While I accept that there are individual members of the RSPCA hierachy that are good kind souls who care deeply for thier charges...the policies set by the higher echelons and the practices of the inspectors MUST be revised...it is time for them to do as they claim not as they want..... >:(
-
This is so sad, i hope that they do get taken to court, even if it only makes a few more people aware of their practices. RIP little one

I am not a member of Facebook and I cannot open that link
Woud it be possible for somebody that is a member to copy it, paste it and post it - pretty please?
:thanks:
-
:'( very sad,
I actually found out the other day the huge difference in practices between branches and I was shocked. More humane poliicies need establishing universally me thinks.

Am not a member but I was able to copy and paste it! ;)
If a cat or any other animal came into my garden and i killed it wouldn't i be arrested, fined and possibly sent to prison? why should they be above this ruling. They are not a government agency or anything just a charity. Surely there must be some loop hole so you can take court action. we know it won't bring luna back but may help prevent it happening to anyone else in future.
I have fowarded this site to everyone i know to hopefully get you more support

Poor Lunas plight was just posted on a cat rescue forum I frequent....may I pass on my condolences and tell you that we are disgusted (but regretably not suprised) at this abborent situation. The RSPCA must be made accountable for these actions, for the apathy, for thier unacceptable breaches of policy. I am sickened to hear of yet another innocent that has suffered at the hands of an organisation set up to protect them >:(
RIP sweet Luna x

really pred ator why do you think this site has been set up the cat that was put down was niether injured or ill it was healthy as proven by the vet who put it down. i sugest you comment on other subjects and not this one as you havent got a clue
Sharryn wrote at 03:39 on 15 June 2009
i was totally devasted that the rspca could do such a vile thing to a poor defenseless cat who was only playing like most cats do. it begs the question do they actually serve a purpose? as they ignore suffering animals and prey on healthy ones. sorry to hear what they have done. would they be happy if it happened to them......i think not!!!!!!!
James wrote at 18:32 on 14 June 2009
This stinks mate. Horrible not giving you chance to find em. Sorry to hear that pal x
-
This is absolutely awful, RIP Luna :'( :'(
I hope they get the book thrown at them, and that all the newspapers take up this story - so many people think they are doing a good thing by donating money to them, and they don't have a clue what actually goes on 'behind closed doors'.
So sad, and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to Luna's poor owners :'(

Thank you for that - much appreciated

Are we sure there wern't things going on between the owners and the neighbour? They could of been having a dispute- although no reason to do this, but some neighbours like to hit you where it hurts >:(
I just dont know why the neighbour would this the cat was a stray, surely they had seen it before? :-:
When I contacted my local rspca about a stray (a propper stray) they were very kind and didnt suggest to stop feeding it, and said we would have to do something to get him caught before the cold winter. My CP were less helpfull- they said there was nothing they could do with him being stray- he would be no good in their pens >:(
My local animal welfare...well Im not even going to go into that one >:( :censored:
-
I was wondering that too CC. I had a woman last week who wanted us to take cat he neighbours had abandoned. I told her we can't just take owned cats for legal reasons.
The Mirror hasn't published my comment which was very toned down and no worse than any that were published.
-
I too wondered if there were issues between the neighbours....though it has to be said that many people wouldn't know or care if the ravenous bug-blatter beast of trall lived next door!
However, IMO the fact that there is a chance of neighbour dispute entering a new dimension doesn't excuse the RSPCA's actions, Luna was healthy and in good condition...unless the neighbour had tampered with her coat condition etc. in order to make her look like a stray (in which case they need to have the book thrown at them >:( ) the RSPCA did not hold the cat for any amount of time to allow for owners to trace the cat..........
The admin on the second link is trying to gather evidence of this type for submission to the Charities Commisson. Like many of the rescues on here she takes on cases that the RSPCA have turned thier back on, a significant amount of them involving blantant cruelty.
The PM I recieved follows:
Sadly Jade and Sheba lost their fight for life, the neglect that they suffered had gone on for too long without any veterinary intervention, yet again the RSPCA let it happen, for the last 6 weeks of their lives they enjoyed the love and kindness of a very special foster family, they then knew what it was to be feed regularly and to sleep in a warm bed....
We think that it is time that the RSPCA are looked into more closely to stop any more dogs (though she will take reports on any animal case) suffering needlessly and owners not being prosecuted, this is where we need your help.
HAVE YOU GOT ANY EXPERIENCES OF THE RSPCA?
In order for the Charities Commission to consider any stories as evidence that the RSPCA is not always using its vast funding for the purposes intended by the general public, the reports have to be verifiable.
To meet these requirement, each reported incident will need to include
1) The name of the person who had the unsatisfactory experience. (We may need to also ask for an address if the CC request it as further proof but hope this won't be necessary)
2) The dates and times of the incident/s.
3) Full and precise details of each incident including calls made to the RSPCA and their response.
4) Emotional impact.
5) Copies of any correspondence.
6) Any photographic evidence.
7) Length of time involved.
8) Details of any outcome - satisfactory or otherwise.
If anybody can help then please send any information through to me.
PAULA
If you wish to help, then either join the 2nd group on my list and send a message to Paula Curtis or if you're not on Facebook send me a PM with the details and i'll forward it....... :)
I don't know about you guys but this has made me mad.....mad enough to do something :naughty:

I dont know about dogs trust but the other 2 are known in certain areas for pts harder to home eg elderly or fiv :(
Many big organisations take your money and never put it where you think >:(
