We have took portia to the vets this morning and the vets have kept her in to do xrays and tests etc and maybe surgery . Im just hoping she pulls through we are gonna be devastated if she doesn't how will i tell my children :'( :'(
-
Sending lots of love, huggles and positive vibes for the gorgeous Portia xxx get better soon little on xxx
Did she get worse over the weekend?
What kind of surgery are they thinking of doing and have they tested for TF before considering surgery?
Big  for you Lisa, let us know how she gets on x
-
She has been bleeding yesterday so not looking good , they are gonna do allsorts of tests they said xray and if needed bowel surgery :( :(
thanks sheryl for you well wishes i dont mean to be negative but she is so tiny it upsets me them hurting her :'(
-
try not to panic Lisa, the intestines can get sore quite easily and sometimes you will find blood in the litter tray for no reason at all- they will take the best care of her
-
:thanks: dawn
-
Oh Lisa, I have just seen this thread (i dont look on this bit very often) and saw about Potia, I really hope she is OK honey and big  for you xxx
-
Have everything crossed for her
-
I hope everything goes well for Portia and sending big hugs to you both x
-
Alice has occasional bleeding and used to get it a lot. She had loads of tests but eventually they said some cats are prone to it - I read online that "Unlike with humans, bleeding from a cats rectum is rarely anything dangerous"
I'm sure she will be fine
-
:thanks: everyone
Mark she has had the squits for a few weeks now bleeding only started yesterday :'(
-
   to you both
-
The bleeding is probably because her little intestines are inflamed, i know its scary when you see the blood (it happened with my Mellika a few times) but dont panic Hun xxx
-
Sending positive vibes for Portia and yourself~~~~~~ :grouphug:
-
How did she get on?
-
Poor little Portia. Hope she gets well soon
-
I really hope that no news is good news ?
-
portia had her xray and they said there is nothing wrong with her stomache but they were keeping her in overnight on antibiotics and fluids got to phone at 10 .30 , i think they said she had soliceus or something like that :(
-
It is probably colitis Hun and is treatable with certain diets - that is what 2 of my Bengals were diagnosed with when they were babies and the reason I changed to a grain free and raw diet. My vet is still horrified that I feed my cats raw meat. (If you want to chat anytime just pm me)
Lacto B could really help her too.
I am so glad that there is nothing wrong with her internally and I am sure she will get better. xxx
-
Thanks Sheryl will pm you when she comes home for more info and thanks for the offer of your help its nice to know i have someone who is willing to help with regartds to my furbaby :)
-
Those links I sent you the other day Lisa have info about colitis/IBD and how raw feeding can help.
My vet, like Sheryl's is, shall we say, a bit 'lukewarm' about raw feeding too! This is another good link for info, http://www.catnutrition.org/ibd.php
-
Thanks Gillian i will take a look , I phoned the vet this morning and they said portia has responded well to the meds and so far this morning there has been no squits and they said she has been very lively :Luv: and if all goes well this morning she can come home tommorow ;D
-
That is sounding good....hope this manages to sort little Portia's tummy out! :Luv:
-
That is sounding really positive, so glad that you have had good news xxx
-
That is sounding really positive, so glad that you have had good news xxx
Ditto :)
-
Hope Portia feels better soon...
As Sheryl suggested it might be worth checking the vets have tested her for tritrichomonas (there's some good info on the FAB website, in the breeders section).
-
portia is having to stay in another night as she was fine until this afternoon then she started squitting again :'( gotta phone tommorow morning :(
-

Me too, fingers crossed here as well
-
More positive vibes for Portia - get better soon little one x
Did you ask the vet about testing for TF? it may be woth printing off some info and taking it in for them to read. Her symptoms sound very much like TF could be the problem.
-
Whats tf Sheryl ??? we phoned the vets this morning and we have to phone at half two to see if she is coming home today ... :crossed:
-
Hi Lisa, here is the website with details Hun - dont panic because it is treatable but not a lot of vets ever seem to test for it.
http://www.fabcats.org/breeders/infosheets/tritrichomonas.html
-
Fingers crossed she comes home today.
Have they sent a general sample off? Bacterial infections can cause these types of problems
-
Is she home yet Lisa? Hope all was okay at the vets?
-
:Flowers: PORTIA IS HOME ..... :Luv2: :Luv2: ..... then we thought we had lost her :'( , my daughter left the front door open , so we was looking everywhere for her up and down the street even put an ad in the shop , My son went in the cuboard to get a packet of crisps and portia was inside the multibag of crisps :evil larf 2: She seems to be alot better no squits so far , she has been going in her tray , she is only allowed chicken to eat till we go back to the vets on monday and has meds to take too and cream for her sore bum ;D
-
:wow: that's great that she's home, and glad you found her in the cirsps!! :-: :evillaugh:
Hope she's ok between now and Monday
-
:welcome: back Portia! ;D
Sending positive vibes to keep her tum well over the weekend! Good Luck with the babe! :Luv:
-
Welcome Home little Portia xxx :Luv2:
I hope that she continues to improve over the weekend xxx
-
unfortunely she is still squiting :'( im hoping it improves before monday :'(
-
It could be a long process Lisa and I still think your vet should definately be checking for TF, if it was one of my cats I think I would be insisting on it now.
Big huggles for little Portia xxx
-
I agree with Sheryl, collect a nice sample, take it to them and demand its tested, theres no point x raying and following diets if she has an infection
-
She is at the vets again monday i will take a sample and ask them to test it for tf , She has been playing and running around like mad this morning though , sliding allover my woodfloor :naughty:
-
I know this sounds gross  but the sample will need to be as fresh as possible - it would have made sense for the vet to take a sample while she was there and then they could have tested it straight away.
I hope that she improves over the weekend and its lovely to hear how lively she is :Luv2:
-
Thanks sheryl for all your advice :)
-
good luck for today
