Title: new to having cats
Post by: lisa281 on June 07, 2009, 18:00:55 PM
hiya

As probably seen in my previous posts both my cat and kitty are ill and are off to the vets , but im confused on a few things as im new to having cats

1 .... where is the best place to put the litter trays in my home i have two ... rosie likes to stay upstairs as she doesnt like much noise and i think the new kitty .

2...... is it best to put they food away from each others .

I  just want to do whats best for them and i have read a few posts on here but im getting confused as to whats best .

thanks lisa

OH no Lisa are they both ill now ?,  I am so sorry to hear that.

Re Litter Trays,  sounds like you need one upstairs with Rosie (very odd as I have a Rosie who lives upstairs !) and one downstairs for the baby,   as far as food is concerned,  I would feed them away from each other at the moment,  after a while you should be able to feed them in the same room or even from the same bowl when they are eating the same food.  I hope they are both ok xxx

Hi Lisa,

I agree with Dais's advice.  With regrds to Poria and the "Squits" .... as she has only been with you a week she is probably a bit runny due to the stress of moving into a new home.  I would advise just feeding bland food with a little bit of probiotic (lacto-B is excellent).

You mentioned Portia is off to the vet: tomorrow, I guess?  Let's see what's going on with her and then we'll take it from there

Lisa,  just make sure she is drinking between now and tomorrow,  syringe liquid into her mouth if she wont drink,  seriously kittens will dehydrate rapidly.  Good luck tomorrow honey and let us know how you get on xxxx.   If Rosie is not eating I would say that is probaly just her nose being put out of joint with Portia coming into the house etc,  but you are doing the right thing getting them checked out.  Portia is the concern,  she shouldnt have the runs for this long,   do you know why she was on Antibiotics in the first place ?

Can you collect a sample and take it with you? It can then be tested for various parasites/bacteria
