How come their noses don't get stung? :-:
That's what I was wondering
Thanks
-
Do the nettles have any white flowers on them? :shify:
-
Yes, they are the nettles that irritate your skin. We also have dock growing in the
garden wildlife habitat :evillaugh:
-
If they have white flowers on them they dont sting! I always chase OH round with them! :evillaugh:
How did I find out they dont sting? :shify: Falling in them as a child and to my suprise no pain! :wow:
Now for the sick part....I also used to suck the nectar out of the white flowers as a child....we were that poor that was the closest to honey etc!
-
Trust me, they do sting. Not all have white flowers. Maybe the stinging ones are the females? :evillaugh:
-
Ive just done a botany check and you can have male & female stinging nettles! :evillaugh: :P
-
:evillaugh:
Anyway, I lied - I'm sure some had white flowers before. I will get round to chopping them down now I have finished classes. The house needs sorting first though :-[
apparently you can make soup with them - a speciality in Sweden (or was it Norway? )
-
Oo ouch...They are definitely the stinging variety! :scared: A soup with a bit of a nip to it eh? :evillaugh: What about wine and tea or would that be a different type? :-:
-
No idea - I have heard of nettle tea as well. Maybe the barbed type?
I remember when I was young, we lived in a prefab on Marshland (Now called Docklands :evillaugh: ) and our neighbour used to collect Elderberries to make wine.
-
...and Elderberry trees are usually cut down by peeps as they look very weed like! OH makes wine and you can use their white flowers as well as their later red berries! ;D
Meowww! < That is cat related! :evillaugh:
