Depends, we're trying to get a list of names together for when we get strays in or in the odd case we need to rename the cats as they come into care as the names could put people off- most recently itchy and scratchy who to anyone who isn't a simpsons fan, may have sounded like fleabags! Nice, endeering names gratefully received and added to our list!

Panther (if he is black of course)
mine are both boys but we thought Floss was a girl until the vet told us otherwise but i didn;t want to change his name so i am probably not the best person to ask!

actually i am really into the chocolate from Aldi Moser Roth at the moment...so i suppose Moser & Roth i would probably use if i had to rename them

Thanks guys- nice to have a collection ready. Often a name springs to mind but it's good to know which ones are appealing because for some cats, the name can make all the difference.

I read somewhere that cats like a sss sound - and so if possible it should be part of their name

is that accepted wisdom?

now, you could go with a theme and follow it this way you will not get stuck just need to stick to the theme...for example...

Designers: jasper & conran, Calvin & Klien, Stella (ok i realise not a boys name) & McCartney...you get the idea

Trees: Conifer (Connor for short), sycamore, laburnam (not strictly a tree but a shrub) Pine, oak, etc...

Herbs: Oregano, Thyme, parsley

Authors's: Wilber (*spelling) & Smith, Dan & Brown, Charles & Buckowski (buck for short), Mike & Gayle, Mark & Haddon etc

Alcohol: Stella(*again a girls name) & Artois,  carlsberg (probably the best cat in the world!  :briggin:), fosters, bailey, vermouth (*spelling), Pimms, Chautau nerf de papp (*spelling) (our fave wine) , vodka, bacardi, whiskey, sourz, after-shock  chinzano, martini (marti for short)

food: kit kat, marshmallow, penguin, pasta, lettuce , cucumber, tomato (tom)

There are loads of male cat names (http://www.lovingyourpet.co.uk/pet-names/cat-names/male-cat-names.php) to choose from on the Loving Your Pet website.  Have found this website very useful recently when naming 3 of my kittens!
