Got up around 8am yesterday morning to do my usual routine with the cats. After Lacie had eaten she started having what seemed like contractions & their was a green slimey vaginal discharge each time she would contract. ( it would happen on a sunday) Tried to get a local vet to se her, one nurse said it didn't sound like an emergency & to take her her vet tomorrow (today) another said she was having kittens. We weren't convinced & took her a few miles away to Rutland House in St Helens. After reading on the internet we had suspected Pyo. Had to leave her with the vet for sedation & an ultrasound. When the vet rang us back she said Lacie had thickening of the womb & abnormal uterus & asked permission to do an emergency spay (she was booked in for this wednesday for her spay) After the op the rang to let us know she had pulled through the op. Lacie had Pyo, abscess on her cervix, she had been mated but the babies where undeveloped & dead, her uterus was ready for bursting & they also had to remove part of her bladder.
If i could have gotten hold of her previous owners i would have rung their necks.
Anyway, vet just rang this morning and she has made it through the night. She's purring her head off & rubbing up against the nurses. Eating like a pig (lol) & she's had a little wee.
She has to stay at the hospital for further monitoring so can't come home yet, hopefully tomorrow.
Phew!!!!!! I have so many mixed emotions right now it is overwelming.
xx

Thanks everyone, poor girl eh?
I wonder how she will cope now wih having part of her bladder removed? Anyone got any experience with partial bladder removal & how cats cope with it in the long term?
xx
-
Poor thing. Glad she is ok.
Hopefully all it will mean is that as her bladder is a bit smaller than before, she Will need to pee more frequently.
-
what an awful drama for you and Lacie. I hope as she is eating she will be well on her way to recovery now.

O dear, how very stressful!

She's only 11mths old. She was booked in for her spay this coming wednesday. We have only had her 2 wks & that was the 1st avaiable date. It must have been meant to be that she wasn't booked in sooner, maybe things would have been overlooked :(
Thanks for all your kind messages everyone xx
-
Poor little Lacie,im so gl;ad she is sorted and will send some healing positive vibes that she is soon home
-
Crikey, that is incredibly young to have pyo. i am sooo glad you ignored the first vet and got her seen. Never known a cat with part of their bladder removed, so can't help on that I'm afraid. Fingers crossed she makes a quick recovery from all this.
-
Thanks guys ;D she coming home today. Picking her up 3 ;D Say a lil pray that she has a speedy recovery & the other two cats aren't miffed at her coming back :-:
-
YAY roll on 3pm x
-
I'm sooooooooo excited ;D ;D ;D
-
under 2 hours to go! I hope it all goes well and there's no hissing because she smells funny to the others
-
Bless her, i hope she settles back in quick. She was very lucky to have you as her other 'owners' wouldnt have bothered spending the money or probably not even notice anything was wrong
-
Awwww, give her a welcome home cuddle from me :Luv2:
-
Well, she's as bright as a button.
Got a lampshade on head which is disorientating her a little as she keeps bumping into things. She looks soooo thin, made worse by her belly being shaved. She's had a massive wee so that's good Her appetite is enormous as usual but she does have diahera, which we have some Pro Kolin paste for. Anti Bs 2 X daily. Also has Metacam pain killers but vet says to lay off them a while due to the diahera unless it's apparent she's very uncomfortable.
Tiggz just aint bothered by it at all & Saxon is just teasing her cause of the lampshade, no seriously, he's just normal. She has to back for a check up on friday, than back again for the sticthes out next week.
Phew!!!!!!!!!!
-
So glad she is back at home sounding great! ;D
Did you remember to ask the vet what effect her bladder op will have on her?
-
Do you know summat...I forgot to ask everything i intended to ask :-: no worries tho back on friday & i get to see the vet that did the OP. I feel so silly but all common sense just went out the window when i got in that vets room & seen Lacie. I will make a list for frriday :shy:
-
Dont worry Molly...I do exactly the same! :shy:
-
I am so pleased she is doing so well and memories in times of stress just leave

Isnt Lacie beautiful ;D
Is she stapled rather than stitched? I know Kocka had a big cyst removed and she had 10 staples and they came out without a problem and she didnt even flinch.
-
Vet only mentioned stitches to be honest i can't even see them :-:
She sems to have had a comfortable night. Veyr bright & alert this morning. Sunbathing on the windowsill as i type. She took her meds in her food with no problems. Seems to have gone a bit sleepy now, i guess that's to be expected tho. ;D
-
Glad she's doing well.
She's beautiful :Luv2:

Hope she feels better soon.

Im glad she is much better, how its going with her bladder?
No problems at all. Vet was worried that the nerves would be damaged but it doesn't look like that were. She has small & frequent wees but did before the Op (maybe that was due to infection) But anyway there doesn't appear to be any nerve damage so she has no special needs & it shouldn't effect her future health ;D It turned out when i actually spoke to the vet who did the Op that part of the bladder had not been REMOVED but moved from where it was attatched to the vagina (hence the concern about nerve damage)
-
Wow what a looker ;D
