Whilst walking in a local town ( Whitstable for those in the area) a mate and I came across a couple of GORGEOUS cats the other week. :Luv2: :Luv: :Luv2: :Luv: They were truly HUGE! And I have had large cats but there were extremely large, very very fluffy with huge tufted ears. I have looked up NFC but these seemed much larger then they suggest on the websites. Sadly I didn't have a camera on me. :-[
Can anyone throw any light on if there are any other breeds that are similar? Or has anyone got any ideas how big they can grow etc?

Maybe Maine Coons?
Fully grown Maine Coons and NFCs can be big! One of my cat grooming customers has an NFC who is only just over a year old, and he is enormous already!

I have just followed your suggestion and googled MC! You are brilliant! That's exactly what they were. Silver ones I think ( it was dark and under artificial light).

I for one Mark am very sorry that you feel unable to post on Purrs, but fully understand the reasoning. However, I would say to you please reconsider. When I was on another site that will remain nameless, whatever I wrote certain people would have a go at me, whatever I wrote was wrong yet if someone else wrote almost the same thing on another topic not a word was written about it. But I did not let them deter me from trying to help people and more importantly their cats.

Mark I have never ( :shify: ) and would never have a go at you. You make me laugh too much :) and I'm a wuzz. You are also just as entitled to an opinion as me :hug: You must do whatever makes you comfortable but I do so hope you will continue posting.

Both Maine Coons and NFCs are large cats. Lottie can tell you about NFCs but she has other things on her plate at the moment ;D

Oh my goodness, the face on that MC looks sooooo like my new foster girlies, and they have similar sort of fur, but they're tiddlers! :Luv2:

It hadn't clicked before that Leo is an MC JS :doh:. Such a pity we don't hear from him anymore :( Love that boy and Lottie's bunch of course. Prob is they'd have to be indoor only as NFC's in particular are terrible wanderers

I went to a cat show last year and saw the biggest maine coon imaginable - I didn't thin cats came that big! He was a gorgeous red boy. Thin I posted a link to a pic of him at the time. They are certainly large cats.

THey are indeed the same cats as one was on the raised pavement and the other was sitting on the outside window sill by the potted ?bay? trees. DidN'T realise you were sort of local to me.

When I went to the cat show in Bracknell with Leigh last year we saw NFCs and Maine Coone's - absolutely huge, stunning babes :Luv2:

Was he that fabby one we all ah'd over at the Supreme? Have to admit to being completely taken with him. Didn't he win the show?

I saw one a few years back at the Show at Olympia, he was not an entry but there for people to meet. His owner was holding him and he was so huge the man , who was about 5'6ish was almost covered from head to toe with cat ;D
