Sorry if this is in the wrong place, we've just got a 10year cat & I'm looking at which insurance to get.
He has an existing leg injury, looks like it was broken a long time ago & has healed at a bad angle.
It doesn't cause him any pain but I do think he needs to have it looked at, his foot is very floppy & he does limp sometimes.
Also he'll probably be prone to arthritis in it when he gets a bit older.
Will any insurance company cover this?
I've looked at a few & they all say they don't cover existing injuries.

I'm with AXA via its website. It doesn't cover existing conditions, but Naboo doesn't have arthritis yet, does he?
My own cat, Blip, has arthritis - she's ten too - and the treatment is similar to that for humans, i.e. prescription painkillers and nutriceuticals, so it's not really an insurance question anyway.
PS This is probably in the right place, by and large :)

The insurance company wont pay for a pre-existing condition.
Any treatment thats to do with his previous accident wouldnt be covered.
If he does develop arthritis,theres a good chance you would be covered but it would depend on how well the insurance company did their homework.
If they managed to track down your cats previous vet history then they may be able to wriggle out of it.
However,if you dont know your cats medical history and the vet doesnt state the accident as a cause on the claim form there shouldnt be a problem.
They'd have a tough time trying to prove that the arthritis is definitely as a result of the accident.

Agree with the others and if you are going for insurance............all cats need it.....then AXA is the current best

Any conditions that are found in 1st 2 weeks of insurance will not be covered although accidents will be.

Just to give a better idea with insurance. Most insurers pay a set amount per condition so if a cat develops a lifelong disease such as diabetes, the amount can run out pretty quickly. A few insurers pay a set amount per year so the "Pot" is filled again each year. Petplan and Axa are 2 that do this. Petplan's premiums are quite high so Axa is a good compromise "Best of both worlds" type insurance.
I took out Axa insurance on Alice last summer and the premium is £11 a month. I have her insured as a 10 year old. (11 now)
