recently i have been having a grey and white cat come visiting with my monkey (normally he is anti other cats but doesnt seem to mind this one) it looks in a right state you can tell its been outdoors ALOT its missing half its ear and its fur is just minging! :(
Now today its come through the kitchen window and was chowing down on our cats food, when it seen me it let out this huge cry and carried on, so i coaxed it back outside and put some food down for it out there, it has no collar and as i say its coat it saying to me its not been taken care of for a while.
what do i do? i cant really take it in as jasper doesnt like it and i dont even know if its a stray. but i dont wanna see it suffer :'(
-
Is he/she neutered? I dont think any cat would hang around with and unneutered tom to be honest, all of mine fight with them.
Maybe its an old cat and not looking too good?
Try the collar thing and also put some notes up in shops about the cat. I would also try to keep it in a spare room if possible :)
-
sounds like it needs help poor thing
-
S/he may be a stray, or as CC says maybe an old cat who doesn't clean look after him/herself that well any more?
I would try a paper collar, ask the owner to contact you, otherwise talk to CP (and any other local rescues) to see if they have any cats registered as lost, and see what they can do.
How long has this little one been coming around?
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I hate to hear any animal being referred to as 'it' :shy: Can you obviously see if male or female?
-
I would also do the paper collar thing
-
i couldnt see it s/he was male or female, wouldnt let me touch it or get too close. :(
s/he has been visiting for a few weeks, however not everyday just now and again
-
if you can't get a collar on it maybe leaflets are the way to go
-
i think with time it would let me touch s/he it seems very hungry and ate all the food i gave.
how do i make a paper collar?? i have been looking but couldnt find
-
You will find some cats are very different once in your hands. A little tom that comes round here is petrified outside but once inside he's a fuss pot, even had a snuggle on my knee :Luv2:
Paper collar? I would rather use a safety one with a note on as paper collars are easily torn off by the cat :)
-
oooh i got a spare safety collar, will attach one of those when i next see the cat in question.
i have just been on a cats lost and found data base and one looks remarkably similar. i will wait and see when s/he next visits
-
Good thinking ;D
-
I do hope there is an owner waiting
-
ok so the cat is back, and its not the one in question. :'(
HE will let me stroke him but to be honest thats it he wont let me get near to put a collar on. so how do i go about this one? he has been in a fight again and there is a drop of blood on his ear. doesnt look infected
and hes covered in fleas  which i suppose is to be expected.
so help!! i have also leafleted my local area to no avail. what do i do now, i dont want this chap to be put to sleep but i do want a lovely home for him :thanks:
-
Not sure, but can you get flee treatment from the vet that you can put in with some worming tablets in his food (obviously, you will not get close enough to do Stronghold)? Would be better for you and your cats as well as, of course, him if he can at least be treated for this. You are at least able to touch him but it may take a few weeks patience to get him tame enough to take to the vet to check for microchip, health check and see if neutered (or get neutered). If you can do this for the little guy he could then have a chance to be rehomed. Cats Protection might help with the neutering. In Leicester they cover 100% of the cost.

have emailed Desley with regards to him
i really want to keep him myself but other half wont let me :tired: i have some frontline i could maybe get onto him :briggin:
-
have left some food and water out for him.
and called him Lennox :Luv2:
-
:evillaugh: you know what it means once they get name?
-
i know, im really attached to the little gremlin already :shy: hes here again. although monkey has started hissing at him now. :'(
hes got his tea for the night and some water (which he enjoyed)
Think Desley is collecting this weekend if theres space (thanks Desley) :wow:
-
I just hope he will let us touch him enough to get him in a carrier, as I dont have access to the trap for a fortnight. Do you have some kind of shed you could entice him into, might be easier to grab him then - I do have some very thick gloves which I shall be bringing!! This does all depend on what is happening with the stray I was told about on Sun, as I only have space for one cat.
-
i do have a small shed, maybe thats a good idea. i think he will let you touch him hes quite friendly. just nervous.
i spoke to my otherhalfs sister this morning who had the house before me and he always visited her too, and is definatly a stray, apparently the woman who had this house before her had the cat and she just abandoned the poor mite. so we are talking a good 2/3 years at least :'(
-
Aww, the poor thing - good news about the other stray is that it was chipped (although registered in Belgium, so has to stay at the vets till an owner is located in case he has sneaked in the country!!), so I dont need to take him in. I need to speak to a couple of people to work out what I am doing this weekend, and will then ring you when I know what day is best.
-
glad to hear the other was chipped :) hopefully that will work out nicely.
as for "Lennox" he is currently here at the min eating his whiskas dry and a slice of ham. Although its just started to rain so i hope hes gonna be ok. :(

poor baby :'( i really need to keep working on the otherhalf
-
I hope things work out for Lennox, my friend helped out a stray who had been in the area for 2 years and he is now the most stunning 7kg monster!! He came to her almost bald with a flea allergy and is now like a black panther!
-
he is quite a big boy as it is :Luv: but so so so hungry, hopefully Desley will be able to find this fella a good home
-
Fingers crossed for Lennox that he soon finds a good home where he will be loved and cherished :Luv:
-
Aww, he looks lovely - looks more black than grey in the pics though. I love grey cats, but have yet to foster a true one - I have had one similar to him, mainly white with grey patches. I actually have someone who wants a grey cat too, but they want one which is mainly grey.
-
You could make him a bit more dusty des, by the time it wore off they would love him :evillaugh:
