We have had quite a traumatic time this week with the loss of Sailor on Monday, then Tuesday afternoon had to rush Phoenix one of our longhaired ginger's to the vet he came home covered in black oil, he was lightly sedated and then shampooed and combed out by our marvelous vets - still looking for the source of the oil as non of the neighbours have any lying around - they all have cats and dogs so have informed the local council as we are in a protection area for red Squirrels and hopefully they will find the source
Today our darling Peanut has 3 inches amputated from her tail after being caught in an illegal snare - she is now home and bandaged up but is sleeping in a cat box as she is unsteady on her feet so we will let her sleep for a couple more hours - again our wonderful vets operated immediately and have done a marvellous job
The nice Policeman is interested in the snares so is coming out tomorrow with some Police cadets to look around the woods with some police dogs so all the Clan cats are grounded and the dogs will be on their long lines for the day
We hope that they can find the source of the oil and snares - Policeman thinks its the Farmer up the hill as he has been shooting deer in the woods and leaving the bodies - we have had various parts courtesy of Sky, Sunny, Max, Ice, Reggie and Murphy the local doggies who bring out the bits to eat in our paddock as it has long grass and no one sees them eating - I do from upstairs so I then have to remove all bits!

Blimey! hope you can sort things out Liz :(
a hug for you all
-
I can't stress how wonderful our vets have been and all the treatment and care Sailor had, Phoenix's wash and blow dry and Peanuts operation came to under £150.00
-
Hmmm...
Hope you - and the various authorities - can get to the bottom of all this, Liz, and sort it out.
-
Oh dear you are having a bad time of it, i do hope Phoenix and Peanut are soon feeling better and that you can sort the other problems out as well
-
I hope they catch and sort out the b*****d who put down snares. All the best to all of you. It all sounds very overwhelming at present, but so glad you sound like you have great vets (if not the farmer neighbour :censored:).
-
Oh how awful for the cats and yourself, I do hope they manage to get to the bottom of this and catch the :censored: :Luv:
-
Fingers crossed the source can be found and this is the end of your bad luck
-
Crikey, sending lots of headbutts and best wishes to you and the clan, and truly hope the police can get to the bottom of the oil and snare issues
-
Blimey what a week you're having. I hope the Police find the traps.
Your vets sound wonderful though
-
I hope you can find out what is going on Liz, especially the snares, horrible things
-
Just a quick update on the crew - sailor will be home next Monday evening, Phoenix is still fluffy and smells lovely and is starting to love his Mummy again
Poor Peanut is very jumpy and is living under the chair in the diningroom unless on my knee, she is only a wee soul and is usually outgoing and a bit of a physco so this quiet little soul is totally out of charactor
Thanks for all your wishes, no snares found but all the cats are having a couple of days in and so far are being quite well behaved and are are still in their usual places and my god the grit boxes are full never usually see over half the doings!
-
What terible goings on and lots of love to little Peanut
-
What a rotten week Liz  and poor little peanut :( Hope she recovers well and gains back her confidence quickly. Just hate to think about her being caught like that. Really awful.
-
Peanut was in for her tail inspecton this morning and was extremely well behaved when Mr Nice vet took off her bandage and had a look and rebandaged - noone had any scars and she was just happy to be home with her new antibiotic jab and a painkiller she is now running around like nothing is wrong
We are back on Wednesday morning for another checkup
-
So glad Peanut is feeling none the worse for wear after the vet visit :)
Give er a :care: from me
-
Glad to hear Peanut is recovering well. You haven't found any snares, I take it?
-
Have had to trim the nice bandage on Peanuts tail tonight as she has been grooming the plaster and then found she could chew and rip it
No snares found but the cats are again enjoying the sunshine and we have pulled lots of nasty metal objects from the woods today abley assisted by Sunny and Sj=ky who think its great that parents want to play in their woods!!!!

Peanut managed to remove her bandage and is now running around like a demented hooligan again!
We are off to the vets at 9am tomoorow and tail looks clean but she has sadly lost over a third and now looks like a semi stumpy but is still our little physco! ;D

poor little peanut! I suppose at least it wasn't her leg that got caught
