One of my neighbours knocked my door this morning and said "There is a dead tortoiseshell on my next door neighbour' lawn." Luckily for me, I could see Cassie under a bush in the front garden, but accompanied June up the road, as neither she or her elderly neighbour knew what to do, I picked her up. Poor little girl had her throat ripped out. I put her in a bin liner and knocked at all the houses that I knew owned cats. No-one seems to be missing a kitty, although I have seen her sunning herself on local lawns. Beautiful, tiny black tortie with white belly and paws. A couple of people said that they heard a great commotion about 3am this morning. I have taken her to the local Vet Hospital, hopefully she was chipped as I can't find the owner. A horrendous death. Play hard on The Bridge, little pretty girl!

Awwww bless poor little darling :'( Hope they manage to track down the owner

So sad. :( RIP little one.

RIP little soul xxx

Poor little girl - I bet it was a fox :(
-
It was a fox, since we got Wheelie Bins, the foxes are going hungry. There have been several reports of foxes taking cats in the local press since they don't have bin liners to raid.

RIP, Little one.

How awful for the poor little soul. RIP sweet tortie cat
-
another reason to keep cats in after dark
no cat is going to be able to fight off a hungry fox
-
Poor little thing. The foxes round our way are vicious too. :scared:
-
Have phoned the Hospital, she wasn't chipped. Will put up posters on the lamps tomorrow. The vets will keep her for 7 days before disposing of her body. Hopefully someone will claim her.

RIP Little Girl

I found her owner, she was sixteen and named Poppett, her owner claimed her from the Hospital, and she is buried in the garden so that the kids could say Goodbye. Play hard on The Bridge, Poppett. :Luv2: :Luv: You were very well loved and will be be sorely missed.

:RIP: Little Poppett - run free from pain and play hard beyond the Bridge. :RIP:
>:( It makes me soooo cross that the media has managed to cutify foxes and give them voices, so some people think they are lovely malaevolent animals - NO they are not - they are vicious killers and disrespective of what they do kill and often only kill for blood lust. Nature is a harsh thing and I wish sometimes the media would understand that - like the time I saw a fox eating a lamb even as it was being born. I apologise if I have offended anyone with my graphic details, but I live in the countryside and understand the wildlife around me, urban foxes all too often kill things which, i in proper circumstances, would not happen >:(
Sorry - I shall step off my soapbox and apologies if I offend :scared:
Muchly, Dottii xx
