Several weeks ago (7 ) a lady that knows Phil at the rescue was forced to leave her family home because of threats from next door neighbours, they also threatened her cats ( 9 of them ) fearful more for the cats then herself she asked if we could board her cats until she got sorted, 7 of the cats are under 5 yrs old and 2 are 12 yrs old,the younger ones tend to pick on the 2 older ones so i was asked if i could board the 2 older ones for a couple of days till she was sorted,so home to my spare room came Spooks and Muppet, 2 beautiful but very confused cats, The house she was going to rent was due to come empty within the week, that was in march but the tennants who were due to move out hit a snag with their new accommodation so 1 week became 3 weeks its now the end of April and i still have the cats, they have been in my spare room now for almost 8 weeks, during the last week i have opened the door so they have different scenery and are able to get more exercise as they are both begining to put a bit of weight on,they get on fabulous with mine and sometimes its like a mad house with cats flying up and down the stairs playing chase, the only thing they havent done is be allowed outside, i have just found out today that she fetched the other cats from the rescue on Mon night and she was supposed to be ringing me to arrange collection of Spooks and Muppet, up to date i have not had any contact from her, she did used to send food / litter etc every week but ive not had any now for 2 weeks, and we dont know her new address or phone no. DO YOU THINK IVE BEEN CONNED
-
It certainly seems a rather odd 'memory lapse', though moving house can be fairly disruptive, so maybe she has not realised how much time has passed ... :scared:
I think I would be onto BT.com to see if she has a new phone number. Unless her name is Smith, it should not be too hard to track here down ...
-
After looking after these 2 for almost 9 weeks ive finally managed to contact the lady who owns them ,i got a string of excuses as to why she had been in touch anyway the upshot was she came to fetch them today, thats when disaster struck, she fussed them for a few minutes then put them in their boxes and took them out to the car, unfortunately she hadnt shut one of the doors properly and Muppet promptly escaped and legged into the woods, after trying to find her for 2 hours we had to give up, so now im sitting here waiting for it to get a dusk so i can call her and see if she will come to me,i think i will be in for a sleepless night if she doesnt come back, as i feel responsible, if i hadnt contact her she wouldnt have come for them and they would both be safe PLEASE SEND SOME POSITIVE VIBES FOR HER SAFE RETURN PLEASE :scared:
-
Sending lots of positive vibes for Muppets safe return, she has certainly been with you long enough to know where she lives so feel sure she will stay close by. Its not your fault so dont beat yourself up
-
Muppet was her owner's responsibility so please do not blame yourself
(and can anyone tell me, incidentally, how someone with 9 cats manages to rent a house?)
-
She can afford it because she has several children who she teaches at home so gets an allowance for that plus benefits, rent paid, council tax etc, i slog my guts out at work and cant get :censored: all, makes you wonder doesnt it >:(
-
Definitely not your fault - the fact of the matter is the lady seemingly tried to put off taking back her older responsibility for as long as she could.
Hope Muppet is back by now.
-
Sending come home vibes for muppet
-
Aww :scared:
Sending loads of Come home Vibes Muppet's way

Sending coming home vibes for Muppet, i think she was scared and will be home soon.
-
oh dear, you must feel so disappointed right now after caring for them all this time
If they were with you such a length of time I would think Muppet will be back soon xx
-
Topping up the positive vibes~~~~~~~~Come home Muppet!
-
Still no sign of Muppet :( i went out again at 1am this morning calling her and nothing, at 3am i finally went to bed and went back out at 6.30am calling but again nothing,im going to start going round the houses on the other side of the woods in case she is hiding somewhere there, poor little mite must be so scared, altho i had her for 9 weeks she and Spooks (sister ) never went out so she doesnt know the area at all,im so worried for her :scared: Please keep up the positive vibes for her
-
She'll be back  she just got a fright and was probably disoriented when she came out of the box. This is definitely not your fault - stupid owner should have made sure the cage was properly closed ... >:( At least you are in contact with her now and can let her know when Muppet comes home. In the warmer weather she may decide it is rather fun to stay outside for a night or two - until she gets hungry ...
-
i'm sure she'll be back too
don't blame yourself, it was in no way your fault that she escaped.
-
i am sure she will be back, it is amazing how they can find their way back, even if they haven't been out before.
-
Sending vibes that Muppet will find her way back very soon
-
Still no sign of Muppet and the stupid women hasnt even rung to see if she ,s back or if there is any news,i think if she comes back i would be tempted to keep her as she obviously isnt concerned about her poor mite :scared:
-
:(

Hoping Muppet finds her way home soon

Hmm, I was thinking something similar as I just read this thread for the first time. I hope Muppet comes home soon. No chance she might be trying to make her way back to her original home is there?
-
Absolutely not your fault, the stupid owner doesn't seem to care much if firstly she left them for weeks and weeks and then didn't take the trouble to make sure Muppet was safe in her box. I hope she turns up soon, I'd be tempted to keep her too.
The positive side is the warm weather, the safety of the wood as opposed to a busy road and cats ability to hide themselves right under your nose. I know everyone on here knows a lot about cats so you don't need my advice but we always used to recommend putting the cat's litter tray outside the door in the hope they'd follow their own scent home.
Fingers and toes and eyes crossed for her safe return
-
Still no sign of Muppet :(her owners havent even rung me to see if theres any news :censored: im really getting quite worried for her now as she is so timid and its raining and cold ,she must be so scared :scared:
-
Everything crossed that Muppet comes home to you. I would keep her as she gets on with your kitties. Stupid woman doesn't deserve her. :censored:
-
still keeping everything crossed she is soon home
-
Thanks everyone ,i still need those positive homing vibes as there is still ne news of her :(, her owners have still not been in touch so obviously she is not bothered about her, mind you she does have 10 others so i think in this case discretion is the better part of valor and i\f or when she does come back she wont be going back to her, she will stay with me until i find someone who will love and appreciate her for the beautiful cat she is :Luv:
-
Poor Muppet :( I hope she comes home soon.
-
Please keep those vibes coming as they seem to be working,i happened to look out the kitchen window and saw a little white nose poking in the cat flap in the back gate,it was MUPPET :wow: i went out with a box of biscuits but she legged it down the lane and disappeared, little madam :evillaugh: i tried calling but she was no where to been seen, at least i know shes okay, now just got to figure out how to catch her or coax her back in, still no contact from her owner so that poses another dilema, do i let her know if i get Muppet or keep her and find her another home where she will be looked after properly?? after all she does have 10 others and she did tell me she had more trouble with Muppet then all the rest put together
-
Oh wow that's fantastic! ;D
Come home Muppet, your meowmy has been waiting and worrying for so long! :Luv:
-
C'mon Muppet - get your bottom home!
-
that must have been a huge relief. comeon Muppet
-
Fingers crossed she'll be back today hungry enough to eat those biscuits xx
-
Im glad you have had a sighting ;D your one problem is her chip.
Good luck getting her in
-
Is Muppet home yet?
-
At least you know she's around and she obviously knows where to call home! Fingers crossed you can get her inside soon.
-
No shes not home yet ,i came within a cats whiska of getting her tonight, ive been sat outside for the last 1 -1/2 hrs and she came for some food which i put in the shed,im sat round the corner with some string tied to the handle ready to shut the door once shes inside ,but one of the feral cats came and scared her off,the 2nd time she came from the front gate instaed of the back,, i hid behind a big plantpot with a shrub in it but she spotted me and legged it so ive given up tonight as im :tired:
-
Aw how frustrating for you.....maybe start bringing the food closer to your home, then if your sat on the step and the feral's come they will prob go and hide till you go in..... ;)
You can alway's put some out for the strays later on! :sneaky:
-
It's not proving easy is it! I'm sure you'll get there though in the end :)
-
Is it possible to borrow a trap and place it near your door? You may catch one or two hedgehogs first though.
-
I very much hope you manage to get Muppet in today
-
So do i Rosella, im getting to old to be sitting outside in the night chill, plus im :tired: as she is coming about 11pm at night, never see her in the daytime :sneaky: Ela i have a trap at the rescue and i think thats what im going to have to resort to,i was hoping not to but i think its going to be the only way as the crafty madam is enjoying the freedom so is not going to come willingly :evillaugh:
-
That’s good then, If it were me I would set the trap today as although perhaps not a pleasant experience for a cat, it is a means to a quick end of the problem. (If you get the right cat in first time ;D). Also the experience of days outside cannot be very nice either.
