Title: Can Drontal make cats dopey??
Post by: Kirst on April 25, 2009, 22:19:28 PM
They all got dosed today - Jerry and Gizzy have slept for most of the day but are full of beans now , but Beavis is walking like he's drunk!!! He seems happy enough in himself , has had a few mouthfuls of dinner and used the tray OK - should I be worried??? :scared:

I've had this once before with Drontal - Joe went all wobbly legs after having it, but he was ok - can't remember how long it took to wear off as it was a long time ago.  :)

There don't seem to be an side effects listed anywhere. In fact that said that cats that were given 10x normal dose had no ill effects (although not happy that is how they test drug safety  :( )

I guess any drug puts some kind of load on the system and can have unwanted effects. I suppose in effect, we are putting poisons into their system which are strong enough to kill parasites so must have some effect on cells etc.

My cats go qiuet for the rest of the day when I worm them with Drontal, yesterday in fact was their worming day and today they are back to normal.
