I posted a few weeks back for a friend who's cat was unwell. It started off as having fluid on her lungs and being quite poorly. The fluid appears to have cleared but she still wont eat. Can anyone help with advice at all? Here is what my friend has just told me:
Callie is still not eating on her own. She is on one Fortekor tablet a day for her heart, 2 diuretic tablets a day and 2 rutin tablets. She seems fairly bright in herself and perked up after a steroid injection but now is getting more lethargic again. I am syringe feeding her mushed up high calorie food from the vets twice a day and she has the odd cat biscuit here and there.
Vets want to do more blood tests and x-rays in case its fluid on her lungs but they don't think it is as she is breathing fine. I just don't know what to do with her and the vets bills are huge!

Sorry cant help on this one as dont know anything about the correct doseage of duiretics and have never heard of rubin.
Has she had blood tests done?

Do you know the dosage of the diurectics and the rutin? I found my Sam was lethargic on higher doses of diuretics and I also halved his Fortekor daily dose with the vets OK because she said that can make them lethargic.
At least she is having some nourishment from the high calorie food.

If the cat won't eat then something isn't right and she will need to take her back to be checked out, best of luck.

Cant advice anything else than go back to the vet.
I know how high vet bills can be, if she has been with her vet for a while could she ask for a payment plan ?

Her cat has not eaten properly for several weeks now, the vets cant find any reason at the moment :(
Here is the initial thread i posted up.. she has since been put on the medications and has had some steroid injections which have helped a little at the time but she has still not recovered :(

She is having daily,
2 mg of periactin
100mg rutin
5mg fortekor
40mg frusemide
She shows interest in some food, tuna and chicken, but after eating maybe a teaspoon full will walk off. She is lying in the sun at the moment but not really interested in much else. I am giving her 4-6 syringes (5ml) of Hills prescription high calorie food daily.

Unfortunately she didnt get any better and the vets had nothing else they could try for her. She passed away this morning at the vets :(
