Title: See Separate board above to vote for furries in the Morrisons photo comp.
Post by: Mark on April 15, 2009, 08:48:08 AM
Any chance they can have their own section? - it's hard to see any proper threads  :shy:

I was just thinking the same thing!!

What do people think about merging them into one big thread (in no particular order!)?

Good idea, Helen. I think merging them is a good idea.
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Cheesecat on April 15, 2009, 11:16:08 AM
It would be good if they could just be merged into the original competition thread to make sense and not be biased.
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on April 15, 2009, 11:21:03 AM
The only thing is that when you merge threads it puts the replies in time order so it would make no sense whatsoever but the links would still be there.  Doesn't bother me but what do others think?

Post by: CC & The Pussycat Guys & Dolls on April 15, 2009, 11:29:22 AM
Yes you can do that Helen but leave Lyla's out, actually I dont think anyone will vote if they all get muddled up so no point in them being there really.

Mark stop being a grumpy ol' swine, and remebmber theres only one voting thread you need to keep up with  ;)
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Cheesecat on April 15, 2009, 11:36:23 AM
If its optional nobody will want theirs in so it gets more exposure, lol

must admit to being grumpy too - I haven't voted for any of the cats on the threads purely because of all the threads being a bit much!
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: CC & The Pussycat Guys & Dolls on April 15, 2009, 11:40:48 AM
Hum maybe close the other threads and open one saying if posting for comp post your link here? Helen?

Instead of merging into one cos then I would be confused and links would also be muddled up.

What about locking all the existing threads and I'll make a new one with all the links that have been posted so far (in alphabetical order)? That would be a lot less work than merging.  P.S Have changed the boys names to Aardvark one and Aardvark two - joke!  :evillaugh:

 :heeee heeee:

You can take mine off if you like Helen....its all just a bit of fun and I would rather put all my "finger energy" into voting for just a couple of the cats that are near the top.....On the Morrisons site that is!  ;D

Post by: Tiggy's Mum on April 15, 2009, 12:49:02 PM
No way! All Purrs cats would be on the thread  :)  As you say it's all just a bit of fun but don't wan't to upset people if the general consensus is to leave the threads as they are...

Seems like the vote threads are staying, people keep opening new ones  :evillaugh:

Oh well noting else interesting going on  ;)

Just an aside but looked at least popular pud (who looked lovely) and awarded 5 stars. I then refreshed and saw another pud demoted to least popular (also lovely) and awarded 5 stars......and another.....  Best log off now as I could be here for some time  :evillaugh:

There are about 19 vote for me threads on purrs at the mo. Sorry but I am finding it a bit much as well. Have to confess I am using my iPod at the moment which means it's a tiny screen, I have a ton of scrolling to get past the threads  :(

Sorry but I'm with Mark on this one.
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Kittybabe (Ruth) on April 15, 2009, 14:28:16 PM
Itsjust a litte fun, threads tend to be repeated anyway.  Besides, anyone who is finding it too much doesn't really need to open the threads  or simply go to General
Cat Chat and mark them all as read. It will all be over soon. One of ours just needs to win so a rescue gets some food ;)

Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads

The sooner it's over the better  :tired:

I am going to avoid this section until it is.
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Den on April 15, 2009, 14:43:20 PM
I'm not opening the threads at all. The fact is there are so many it's hard to find any other threads which just get lost and for me there is a ton of scrolling, so my finger hurts.

And I am continually marking everything as read. It's only fun if you are interested in it. Personally speaking it's rather annoying now.  But hey ho someone just email me when purrs gets back to normal. I've been trying to catch up on things Ive missed lately and at the moment it's too difficult for me.

Not for everyone it isn't. That is why it was asked for them to all be in one place instead of swamping everything else. But hey ho, I really am done with purrs for a couple of weeks until it's over and done with and back to normal. That way I don't have to be seen as a miserable moany person or be continually annoyed with something I'm finding OTT.

I think it's all starting to get a bit much now - it's not just in this section either, they're springing up all over the place and it's getting quite difficult to actually use the forum

I was getting bored of them after 48hrs but didnt post, glad you brought it up Mark  :thanks:

Lock em all and bung all the links in one thread, much easier to skip it all then. Its as annoying as a troll posting crap all over the place  :shy:

Afraid I am one of the grumpies too, especially on my e-mail notification, as all I can see is Please - and it makes you think that it is something important, and it is just yet another vote thread, so one section that we dont have to register for would be great. I am finding it hard to find things on the forum too.

Its as annoying as a troll posting crap all over the place  :shy:

So trying to win food for rescue is crap???

If you cant find things, do as the rest of us do and look harder.
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Desley (booktigger) on April 15, 2009, 18:26:51 PM
I think thats a bit harsh CC - we dont all have time to spend scrolling past loads of threads to see if we can help someone. And I dont know about anyone else, but I didn't even know the prize was food that could help a rescue as I have no interest in this - if there had been one thread that people could have posted a link onto, I might have had a look, but I dont have the time to go through 19 threads (or more now)
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on April 15, 2009, 18:28:04 PM
There's no need to get stressed about it, I'm one of those who posted a thread (in my defence mine was the first  :evillaugh:) but I have to agree when almost the entire first page is taken up with 'Please vote for..' threads it's a bit much.  The suggestion was to have one thread with all the links in so people can vote and chat about it to their hearts content on that thread without annoying those who aren't interested.

Yes Desley with work, 2 kids, 6 cats, 8 rabbits a house to keep I have all the time in the world to post  :tired:

Its a bit of fun at the end of the day and I dont know why some are getting like this over it.
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Millys Mum on April 15, 2009, 18:35:35 PM
CC, you know full well that i dont think getting food for rescues is a bad thing, what is annoying me is the sheer quantity of posts covering up potentially much more important posts.

Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Mark on April 15, 2009, 19:22:35 PM
Realistically, there will always be people with loads of ways of getting votes. To have a chance of winning the food, we would have been better putting on a mascot such as Minimopsical and everyone getting everyone they know to vote?
Title: Re: Lost in a sea of "vote for me" threads
Post by: Teresa Pawcats on April 15, 2009, 19:26:41 PM
I have been quietly voting for all the Purrs cats and Bunnies despite finding it difficult to cope with all the threads on this topic and indeed finding the numbers annoying. However there is now a touch of nastiness coming through on 2 threads, so I am sorry I will no longer vote for anyone.
Yes trying to win food for a rescue is a good thing, but petty squabbles and losing regular people who provide valuable input into this forum is not good.

Post by: Sootyca on April 15, 2009, 20:06:12 PM
I'm with the keep it all in one thread brigade!  Or create a temporary sub-board maybe?  I'm all for a bit of fun but when what seems like every thread reading "please vote for ....." I do tend to get a bit fed up - and won't look for any new threads just switch off.

It's not just this forum though, there are lots of others that are becoming inundated with "please vote for" threads so nowhere is safe at the moment.

Lol just seen my emails from last two days and there are loads of em. It woudl take me till next week to vote for ya all.

I do agree thought that it would be better to have one thread only for this competition than many single threads.

All done ;) The fun continues in the temp Morrisions board here - http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/board,92.0.html

Post all ya threads ya like re voting or just chattin to ya hearts content.

We do have sep boards for all our comps so only right to keep this comp in it's own board so all threads can be seen easily and in it's own section.

Have fun

Well I'm glad you brought it up Mark, I could hardly say anything as I posted a 'Vote for...' thread myself (although I was the first to post so it wasn't an issue when I posted :evillaugh:). Now they're in one place people can concentrate on voting if they choose to, would be a nice outcome for a Purrs cat to win and donate the food to a rescue on here but unlikely I fear  :shy:
