Title: Is it possible for a cat...
Post by: CC & The Pussycat Guys & Dolls on April 14, 2009, 10:48:56 AM
Is it possible for a cat, Harry in question, to steal an egg from its nest?

I have just noticed Ted out the back licking something white and when I went to have a look it was an egg, urgh!

I have picked it up and as it was cracked I opened it. There seemed to be a chick in it but not properly formed and yellow liquid.

The shell of the egg was white and a little larger than a Quail egg.

Harry has also been acting very strange, sitting looking through the fence at me then dissapearing  :shify:

Oh God so not only is he killing birds, he's stealing them from the nest before they are even born  :(

So will they be climbing the tree for them?

Explains where all those baby birds came from last year, there was just no way he was catching them all.

Lupus quite often brings in whole nests  :(.  as he's brain damaged he never manages to catch birds, just frogs and nests.  i've caught him a few times devouring the contents of the nests in my kitchen. luckily, to date they've only been undeveloped eggs.

Magpies often drop eggs, it could have been a lucky find

Oh I hope so cos I would hate to think he is climbing trees for birds, what chance do they stand then   :scared: Although he did look very suspect  :(

Aw, poor birdies.  I've not heard of anything like this before.  But then again we get to hear about everything on here don't we? I learn more on here than reading the papers or watching TV.

Well Mary with the amount of birds he had last year I dont think he was catching them in mid flight, some of them couldn't even fly  :(

I've just sat for several seconds thinking' rabbits don't lay eggs - do they?'  In my defence I hadn't seen this thread before and my PC displays threads with the last post first so didn't see any of the posts before about birds  :evillaugh:

You can but I like it that way, it was just CC's cryptic egg laying rabbit that threw me with this thread  :evillaugh:
