H bought a brand new iMac yesterday. As we don't have a desk yet, I set it up in the dining room. To stop the table getting scratched, I put it on a small Indian rag rug. OH asked me to load the software today. I just went in there and one of them (Smells like Kylie's wee) has peed on the little rug and into the keyboard - I tipped it upside down and it is literally dripping out >:( I am getting fed up with cats trashing things >:( - I will tell OH when he gets home as I don't think he will appreciate a call on the train. The cats have always had free access around the house but I think things are going to have to change. Looks like we will be ordering the wireless keyboard and mouse sooner than we thought :tired: - they can be kept in the gun drawer.

do they all pee on stuff? must be a real pain
-
 I bet it's because it's new it sounds like a marking thing
-
I think so too. We can't not buy anything because we have cats though? :( - OH won't be happy, but luckily he does have a "oh well, cats are cats" attitude.
-
you could try rubbing their scent on things not sure how well it would work though, sounds too simple doesn't it
or spraying Feliway near it
-
Oh dear Mark sorry
-
is it a general thing that cats pee on stuff, I seem to hear about it a lot, am I just lucky that mine don't??????
-
I have had a couple of cats do on and off, it seems a dominant thing.
-
Felifriend can be good for helping cats to accept new items without the marking.

Might be a bit iffy spraying liquid onto a keyboard :scared: - I hate that we are scared to bring anything new into the house :tired:
Anyway, I was going to wait until tonight to tell OH but I thought he might want me to order a replacement (wireless one). The initial reaction was "Oh No", followed by "Well at least we know she is peeing OK" :evillaugh:
-
It's quite a fine spray which could be sprayed onto a cloth and gently rubbed over. It may be more appropriate for any other new things that are brought into the house. I ahve heard very good things about it and it may be a help to the problem in a wider way than just the imac.

You have a gun draw?

Hi Mark,
Sorry that happened, don't try this :

You will need sound for the above link so I hope that she hasn't peed in your speakers. BTW I was impressed that you know the difference when you say it smelled like "Kyle pee"! :)
"Today I are mostly been wearing a feint whiff of Suzie pee". Poor Suzie used to miss the litter tray more often than not and I soaked both of the mats time and agin to get out the smell and to get them bone dry I made the mistake of putting them in the airing cupboard and hanging a few jackets on the other side of the door and now three of my best jackets smell of "Eau de urine du chat" or "incontinent docker" :(. Never mind eh :)
Cheers
Leigh

:evillaugh:
I have seen the videos on youtube :evillaugh: (the link was only sound?)
Also the microwave cellphone - one even turns into a monster :scared:
Anyway, funny you should put that link as only this morning, I said that with pee inside it, it will just attract more peeing so we have nothing to lose by putting it in to soak and hanging it on the line as a back-up keyboard. We haven't bought any speakers as the built in ones are good enough for us.

Hiya Mark,
What about a rub down with some Simple Solution?, the keyboard that is not you!, although my jacket could do with the same ;D
-
The problem is, the pee is right inside. If you tip it upside down, the pee pours out :evillaugh: - at least with the new wireless one, the keyboard & mouse can be put away when not in use. I had a panic last night as I realised I had left the laptop open but luckily it was dry :evillaugh:
-
What about a hair dryer on low heat setting or held a distance away to dry it out first might blow between the key caps unless the caps themselves pop off ?
-
Can't believe you 2 are having such a fascinating conversation about cat pee
Mark, I am sure you must have some revision to do for Uni.
Have you tried soaking it up with cotton wool or kitchen roll - OMG, I'm joining in now
Mary

The mini mac keyboard doesn't have pop-out keys. The problem is the smell is right inside so they will always return to reoffend. Hard to type now as Clapton is feeling better and decided that my jumper needs a wash so he is standing on me giving me a good wash
I found this but the pee is right inside http://www.ehow.com/how_2183760_clean-mac-keyboard.html
