Title: Martha has CRF now
Post by: Jasmine on March 04, 2007, 14:31:01 PM
As many of you know, I lost Reggie to CRF about 6 weeks ago and now I'm just coming to terms with the same diagnosis for Martha, my permanent foster, who has been in my care since Aug 05.

Her creatinine & urea levels are only slightly elevated at this stage, so early days, but at 21, and with a yo-yo-ing thyroid, I have to face the reality that she will probably be lucky to see the year out.

Good news is that she seems to like the Royal Canin renal wet and is waking me up at 5.30 (groan) now for food and a play.

Sorry to hear about Martha, fingers crossed that she has longer than you think though - is he putting her on any meds?

Sending good healthy vibes for Martha.

Hopefully with it being in the early stages she will have longer than you think.

Sorry to hear about Martha, if it's in the very early stages it can be quite easily controlled with diet and keeping her hydrated.  I always used to add extra water to Tiggy's wet food even though she used to drink for England anyway.  Hope Martha has lots of happy times left with you.
