This cat has clearly come from a CPL branch near Mansfield and is now being advertised on a certain preowned site. someone may want to deal with this! :(
I was going to email the owner and tell them they have an obligation to return to the branch but I did not want to tip them off!
-
Call the local CP she came from and let them know. If you're not sure which CP branch it is then call CP HQ to find out and explain what's happened- I am sure they will be very keen to get it sorted. How sad :(

alternatively, here's the website for Mansfield CP http://mansfield.cats.org.uk/ you could try them first

Thanks I have sent them and email and I have left a msge on the answerphone as well. Thought I would cover all bases. Now if only I could get one of the cats to run over there with a letter clutched between two little paws!
Seriously though I think it is disgraceful and I felt that the local branch needed to know.

Ahhh poor baby ... maybe the owners weren't aware that the CP would take her back.

Could be, but I thought that it was always made perfectly obvious that that was the case. I thought that they signed to that effect as well?

I agree Dabs but sometimes the excitiement of getting a new furry means people aren't necessarily listening when they are told all the information etc. I know I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt too often but we shouldn't be too quick to judge
-
How can people flog their pets though :(
-
I have also contacted CP HQ about this.

Preloved seems to have sooooooooo many animals on it its scary!
-
Mark has just phoned me from the branch and I have given him the contact details of the woman concerned. He says that as she got three other cats at the same time there is no way that they would have let her have 4 at once. He did say that there are 3 other branches in the area and she could have gone to any one of those. My suspicion is that she trawled all four and got a cat from each.
He is going to phone her and inform her that the cat does need to be returned back to the CPL branch it came from.

Well done dabs

Yep. It'll only get worse in kitten season too; people start off asking for money, but if they don't get it fast enough the kittens become "free to good homes" candidates.

Personally I cannot believe some of the prices being asked. Figures of around £150 being asked for a common or garden moggie kitten!

We will be one of the 3 that is possibly mentioned, however, we do not home outside our own CP area so there is no way she got one from us.

Nope. I don't think he mentioned your branch, 'cause you are Chesterfield aren't you?
-
We are, but I would think he was talking about us, Ashfield and Amber Valley and another branch. They usually put folks on to us if there is a problem.
-
It made me wonder if they would home 4 at once if they would bother taking cats back, im glad my thoughts were wrong and they are a responsible branch
I hope the cat is soon in good care
-
Once in about 20 years have we homed 4 cats together and obviously the circumstances were right in that case. Our branch feel we have a responsibility for life to any little ones we home and we certainly would take any cat/s back we homed, I cannot answer for other branches.

I saw this ad myself (before this post) and contacted the lady with reagrds to the cat going back to cpl, the reply wasnt what i expected but basicaly she is saying she can rehome the cat better than they can and wouldnt send her back there for many reasons?

Hmm. not sure that advertising the lass free on a certain pre owned site is classed as rehoming her better than the CPL can.
-
The add isnt free, it states a price. Ive had a more detailed reply back as to why and her reasons, not sure i am allowed to post on here the replys?

Best not, nosy as we all are :evillaugh: her opinions of a particular cp branch shouldnt be on here, thats how bad rumours start :scared:
