Title: Royal canin pouches - price
Post by: Susanne (urbantigers) on April 04, 2009, 22:07:48 PM
Been looking on zooplus and can't believe the price of these.  Is this a misprint or do they really cost that much?

£5.99 for 6 pouches?  That must be for 12, surely?

I was vaguely interested in these just because they are new(ish) and I'm always looking for new foods to try.  But the ingredients look rubbish and at that price I wouldn't even consider adding them to Jaffa's junk food repertoire.

RC offers here http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,23772.0.html

I know RC are raising their prices across the board.

Can't open that link - is it a dead link or is it just my pc?

I'm just astounded at the price zooplus is charging for what looks to be a very poor quality food and wondered if it was an expensive food everywhere.  How on earth can they justify charging those sort of prices?  I will have a look next time I'm at PAH but tbh I don't like the ingredients so would only consider letting Jaffa try it if it was reasonably priced.  I won't pay that kind of money for that sort of food.  It's more expensive than applaws and at least that is a quality food.

I think in pet shops they're about £7 or something for a box of 12 x 85g pouches. The RC prescription pouches I get from VetUK are cheaper than that for 12 x 100g pouches! My lot don't even particularly like the RC normal pouches however RC prescription sensitive (maize and wheat free  ;D) makes them  :drool; :drool;

I love RC but I won't be using their non prescription wet foods as the normal pouches even failed the Pinball taste test and that boy will eat anything (even non food items  :Crazy:)

Tried them on my two cos they were on offer at my local pet shop and they weren't keen and ingredients not brilliant. Won't be buying them again.

I put Charlie on the light one to help him lose weight and have noticed, since he has been having it, he has dandruff.  Am putting him back on reduced amounts of Bozita!  Yes it is expensive, too expensive in my view!

Geoffrey is absolutely thriving on the RC ultra light, it seems to suit him really well - he likes them, is gradually losing weight, in good condition and his poos are fab!

It does look like there's something wrong on the zooplus pricing because those are all double what they 'should' be..including their price per 100g so I wouldn't want to risk it from there until it's clarified!  I've been buying it from k9capers or vetuk depending on who has it cheaper each time  :evillaugh:
