Title: Outside city cats?

I have my 2 cats in a top floor huge flat. I have been here since February when i had to move suddenly. I have a job interview on 2nd April for a reasonabley good job. I have a good a chance as anyone to get it! So i was thinking of plans for me and my 2 cats. I would love to move to a basement flat that has access to a garden from the flat. I see people in my block that live downstairs and let their cats out. But i am not sure. They are doing very well in this flat. It is huge and they have enough space. Yet i feel that Milo especially really misses going out.

He is almost 3 and his only experience of going outside was when i lived in the semi countryside. Hes seen cars and people but not in such a number as a city. Im not so keen to let Pagan out. She has never been outside before and is a very beautiful cat and would be more likely to be stolen!

So does anyone have outside city cats?

your cats are lovely  :Luv: I personally wouldn't let mine near roads, thankfully I only adopt old cats so they never go far and I live at the end of a cul-de-sac so we have no roads as such.  If I did I would make sure the garden was cat proofed, luckily our garden is quite large and enclosed so they are nice and safe.  Good luck xx

I would also say keep in if its going to be a busier area, theres often a lack of outdoor space anyway (theres concrete jungle popping up all over the place  >:( ) so not an ideal environment for a cat, would possibly encourage them to roam more looking for a cat friendly tree or bush

We live in Fulham and Blip is an indoor / outdoor cat.  But she is not allowed through the front door: only into the garden(s) at the back.

I've said before that I think cats are safer in quiet city areas such as ours (with serious traffic calming) than in the countryside anywhere near an A road.  But only you can judge your own area  :hug:

I think you are correct there, Christine - I live in a very rural area, but right by an A road

it is not that busy, but the cars and lorries come past my cottage around 50 mph and the gaps between them are just enough to let cats think they are safe

add to that the lure of a farm opposite -  I and my neighbour have each lost a cat on this road, and I have seen many more casualities

When I lived in London my guys were in and out cats with the cat flap giving them 24 hour access but I didn't live on a main road.
