Hi all
Sorry to keep going on and on about Menue! She just won't shut up! It's not meeowing! It's the noise she was making before like a clucking chicken! She keeps doing the bum up in the air, tail to the side thing aswell.
I don't want to sound like I don't care, as I do, but it is stressing me out so much! The noise is constantly there! Everytime someone speaks the cat starts clucking! At night, it's meeeeow meeeow meeeow and scrat scrat scrat at the carpet! I have tried playing with her, giving her love and making a fuss of her, but nothing seems to work!
She is going back to the vets next week as he wants to see her regarding the removal of ovary last week! Someone suggested I get one of those diffuser things for her, are they any good?

Hi QP...I can't answer if Feliway helps with this, but it helped Lexy calm her down and destressed her.

I think you just have to give Menue time for hormones to settle, it will also be worth chatting to your vet about the noise she is making.
I am sure that once she is fully settled she will be fine ;D

I hope it is her hormones! When she makes the noise she looks "stoned"!!

I would ring the vet just to check how long he thinks this will continue.

Hello,
We used Feliway diffuser when we introduced a new kitten (Linux) to our cat Google and it was miracle. It calmed them down dramatically after one day or so and since then they feel much happier. I dont know if it will work for you but I think it is worth trying.
We buy it on Vetuk and it usually arrives next day.

Do people think the Feliway would work on an old cat that is increasingly becoming vocal? Much as I love my old girl, she's waking me up more and more frequently and I don't sleep well as it is!

Possibly not.
Also Scientists at St Andrews uni have revealed that cats can suffer from a feline version of dementia. The illness produces a similar build-up of proteins in the brain as in human Alzheimer's patients. Cats have for a long time been known to suffer from dementia, but the link with Alzheimer's is a new discovery.

I heard about that, Ela. My friend sent me a link to a BBC report. I do honestly believe she's going a bit senile, but thought maybe the feliway might make her a bit less stressed about her confusion.

Jack, i read a while back that old cats who start crying at night are sometimes hyperthyroid. Cant remember who wrote it or if its actually true...

Hyper-t cats can be more vocal - dont actually know why though.

Kocka in her last 6 months was so noisy I thought I would go mad. Its a good job I loved her so much ;D
I dont think there is a way of stopping the elderly and sick cats shouting when they are old.

She has been diagnosed with mild hyperthyroidism. I suppose it's possible the condition is worsening. I know there's medication available for it, does anyone have a cat on it and how stressful is it to their cat?
