Today i called at the bank on my way to the rescue when a lady came in and said there was a cat lying in the compound at the back of the bank,we looked through the window into the locked yard and there was a black and white cat just lying there, i asked if we could gain access but unfortunately the manager wasnt there and he had the key, so i said i would climb over to it, but the assistant manager said i couldnt do that but he would open the big window to let me through,as i appraoched the cat he tried to get up and walk away but unfortunately he couldnt quite walk properly, wobbled all over, i managed to pick him up gently and passed him through the window, when i examined him he was in a bad way, a small amount of blood was oozing from his mouth and he was crying pitifully,it broke my heart to hear him,i phoned Phil (at the rescue ) and he came straight up with a cat box and we rushed him down to the vets, sadly he didnt make it and died on the way :( it looked like he had been living rough for a while and had a bad skin condition too, a lady said she saw him dash across the road but no cars hit him so it looks like it may have happened earlier, bless him he was only about 7/8yrs old, R.I.P. LITTLE MAN

Poor thing. At least you found him and he knew compassion before he passed.
RIP, little guy.
-
poor little fella - so glad he at least went to the Bridge with someone close who cared about him
-
RIP little one. :( You are in a better place now.
-
Oh, how very sad :'(   For you - Im sure however many cats one rescues, it still breaks your heart when this sort of thing happens :(
RIP Little cat - you are in a safe, happy place now, with friends to play with and no more pain :)
-
It is heartbreaking as we all know :( butr this one was doubly so as he was the double of my oldie Eddie and for one heart stopping moment even tho i knew he was at home i panicked, but it was the pitiful crying that did me more then anything else, he was in so much pain and so scared he actually bit me on the hand right down to the bone ,luckily i had a tetnus not long ago, but at least hes not suffering now thank god :(
-
Im glad you have us all to share this with - and I hope that makes it a little easier.
I still remember a cat road-accident victim that I took to the vet. She was the spit-image of my cat then, Pixie.
That cat didnt survive, either :'( Its nearly 30 years ago, but I still remember that little Tabby girl - and how hopeless I felt.
Maybe, now, she is at the Bridge helping "new" kitties settle in :)
-
Oh that made me cry :'(
Poor baby but thank goodness you were there to at least try and help....and he got a cuddle
xxx

Ditto what Gill said about the bite!
-
Poor little cat , so glad you found him and was with him at the end -that must have been so upsetting for you   .
I would also do what Gill says - i got bit very badly ( on more than one occassion ) and twice nearly had blood poisoning and was told by the doctor if the tablets didn''t start working in 24 hours to go immedietly to hospital .
Not to worry you further but one bite many years ago almost lost me my thumb !!!
Take care and get it seen to .
RIP little Kittie -free from pain at the bridge now with lots of other kitties for company.
:RIP:

Oh poor cat, RIP little one you are not suffering now.
Poor you Bonnielass keep taking the antibiotics as if you dont you'll need to go back into hospital on IV antibiotics and I am very angry with you - WHY DIDN'T YOU PHONE ME, I WOULD HAVE TAKEN YOU TO A&E >:(
-
I hope you will be all right, please look after yourself and rest up a lot. May the a.bs work soon. You are an angel to help the little one like that in his last moments. RIP little one.
Keep us posted on how you are please.

I hope you are Feeling Better Bonnielass
I remember in 91 I came across an rta puss, and the Pitiful screaming wails of pain still haunt me ( so much so I sometimes wish I'd never stopped :'( :'( )
I ran to the closest house " I was in a right state, as I'd only stopped to move puss off the middle of the road when I realised the Poor cat was still alive :'( :'( :'( "
they were not very helpful, and kept saying " who's going to pay for the vet?? , I recall that I repeated several times that I WOULD !! " they never did get the vet >:(
the police turned up half an hour later, one of them looked at it and said "this cat's dead" as he put it in the boot of the car, I replyed, it wasn't half an hour ago >:(
the unhelpful ppl came up for a gawk, and I heard their little girl say " Oh thats Mrs Buchans cat from next door " I was so mad at them >:( >:(
Good for you for trying Bonnielass
RIP Little one, Free from pain now
-
been trying to sleep this afternoon but not had much luck,my hand is burning like mad, managed to take a picture to show you,i dont mind being in pain if the cat had lived but it all seems so pointless now :(
-
Oooh, that looks sore. If its no better by tomorrow I should get it looked at again. Poor you, and well done for doing what you could. At least the little dear knew someone was there.
-
...Just realised you are having it looked at again tomorrow! Hope the antibiotics have kicked in a bit by then.
-
Hope your hand feels better soon, and if the anti'bs don't totally clear it up, go back and get another course. If the infection is bad, it may take more, that's what happened with my fingers when it got infected a few years ago
-
Put your hand up in a sling hun, keep it above your heart if you can
-
Oh the poor cat :( At least he wasnt just left out there and died alone.
Your hand looks awful hun. I hope it starts getting better soon (((hugs)))
-
Good advice there from Mrs R -forgot about that as it was such a long time ago when i had major problems with a cat bite .
I spent weeks back and forwards to the hospital and they tried everything -it was only a small bite on my thumb and forefinger.
They tried putting this awful paste stuff on , antibiotics, they lanced the top of my thumb and the last resort was -they drilled my thumb nail -if that hadn''t released the poison i would have had to have half of my thumb amputated - luckily it worked !
Hope it astarts to get better -if not go back to a & e
