As most of you know Dave and Chilli go to the fosterer this Saturday. :(
All along I figured I would go with them to drop them off but now it's impending I am wondering if it may be better to just send them on their way without me. I wonder if they will settle quicker just going to the new strange environment with just their stuff that is familiar as opposed to me going and mothering them for a couple of hours then disappearing :'(
I am so not looking forward to this but hopefully if I can get this house I've seen they will be able to come out within a month ;D

hmmm, a tricky one. Shadow, I would say is perfectly happy to get into anyone's car and go off with them (though he tends to look alarmed when he realises I am not coming). The cats ... If they have something that smells of you, they will probably settle better if they do not see you in their new place. If you are there, and then you are not there, it will confuse them and they will look for you. If they are taken there, and they have home comforts, then they will probably settle quicker ... But that is my cats, and I know them and how they settled in here.
I do, however, try to be upbeat about it for them. Not weep wail and gnash my teeth (I do that after they are gone). Prolonged goodbyes are for the benefit of the human, not the animal and tend to distress them as they are distressed whenever we are upset ...

That is pretty much my thoughts on the whole thing BC. Pack them off with their favourite things and a jolly wave and then collapse in an empty nest bereft heap :evillaugh:

hard, but it seems to work (for the animals, at least). I am still looking and double-checking when I go through doors or head down the stairs ... :(

I would go with them but not stress around them once there, and leave jumpers etc that smell of home. Will they be under house arrest until they fly out?

Yep, house arrest but in a place about 20 times the size of where they live now and they will have access to an enclosed courtyard area for some fresh air. I suspect they will have an absloute whale of a time and be reluctant to leave when it comes time!

they will be once they find out about the plane :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: I will report back on my lot when they arrive so you have an idea what to expect - Have to say, I have never collected a cat straight off a plane before. When I went to NZ they had a week or two in a cattery while I stayed at a hotel waiting for the house purchase to complete ...

Nothing definite yet, I need to find us somewhere to live first and preferably have a job too! Making enquiries about a place at the moment which would mean I could arrange it almost straight away and they could probably fly out in three-four weeks.
It's a bit of a how long is a piece of string situation just now which does make it a bit harder.
