Does anyone have any suggestions. Currently use trigene but find it quite pricey as I do go through it quite quickly being the clean freak I am. Does anyone know of a spray that can be bought in supermarkets that's cat safe?

Milton? You can buy the liquid and dilute it in a spray bottle with water. I use that on my surfaces, 1 bottle lasts ages. I use it in the litter tray as well.

Does anyone know if ecover is cat safe- someone mentioned that to me previously as a good one but never rememberered to check ingredients
-
Don't know about Ecover but I use a Marks and Spencer one that is really good and has no chemicals in it at all. It's £1.99 I think but it lasts ages. Also one called Method which is very similar, slightly more pricey but a bigger bottle and again no nasties in it.

Do you think this would be suitable for kitchen cleaning? http://www.petsathome.com/find/category-is-1+cat/category-is-1i+health+and+hygiene/category-is-1i01+cleaning/product-is-11763

I bought some last year but it says it has to be left on for 20 minutes  - I use Bugs Away from Wilkinsons which kills 99.999% of germs in 60 seconds. It kills bacteria, viruses and fungus.

I didn't know some cleaners are not safe for cats - can someone please advise what components are not safe, as I stand no chance of keeping my cats off the worktops this late in the day >:(

Nearly all of the supermarket sprays are poisonous to cats :(
-
is that because the spray can be breathed in through the air? I always use a diluted cleaner rather than a spray, which could possibly get on their feet, but not into their lungs
does that make it safer?

The main poisons for cats are phenols found in a lot of disinfectants. Cats don't have the enzymes to break them down so they build up and eventually can kill. Anything that goes cloudy in water, such as dettol, zoflora etc are definate no-nos but there are other dangerous things like the clear Dettol surace spray.http://www.fabcats.org/owners/poisons/article.html

thanks for the info - I don't use anything containing disinfectant, but I will make sure the cats are excluded from the kitchen when I have used kitchen cleaner, until all the surfaces have dried completely

Do you buy the Trigene ready diluted in the trigger spray bottles Debs? as that works out more expensive than buying the litre (or larger) bottle and diluting down (you can just keep refilling your trigger spray bottle). I use Trigene too, usually get a litre bottle at one of the cat shows (or you can get online too) - lasts ages, I got my last litre bottle at a cat show in July last year and I've only just finished it now, and thats filling up two trigger spray bottles each time, one I use on the surfaces and for litter trays etc at home, and the other for my grooming table and equipment.
I've used Milton fluid too, which is safe to use around cats as Ruth said. The only thing I don't like about that though, is that once you've made up a solution it needs to be used within 24 hours, whereas Trigene doesnt.

Ecover has a website with contact info. From the look of their products, they sound safe but best to ask to be sure. http://www.ecover.com/gb/en/Products/

I don't think any of their product kill germs so no good to use for cleaning food prep areas - especially if cats have been on them

That is true, killing germs isnt very eco friendly tho :evillaugh:
I use trigene, have a 1l bottle that i dilute and it goes for miles, the other similar product to trigene is Safe4, its ok for cats ;D

I use Bio-D multi-surface cleaner - don't think it has any dis-infectant in it though. Keep meaning to buy Marks & Spencer's one as I only buy products that are from cruelty free companies as well as trying to be eco-friendly.
