Waitrose shoppers amongst Purrs members - and our lurking readers ;) - will know that Waitrose has a community support initiative. Each store gives £1000 per month to local charities, the share of which is decided by shopper votes. Each time we shoppers check out, we get a token to put in a big plastic box. At the end of the month, the tokens are added up and the donations apportioned: the result is posted up in-store.
This month, one of our local charities (in Fulham) is Battersea Cats and Dogs Home ;D Today, as I dropped my token into that silo for the fourth time ;), I was pleased to notice that it has attracted the majority of the votes.
It warmed the cockles of my heart to see the support for animal welfare :Luv2:

Yay! ;D
You know, I got given one of those tokens ages ago and had no idea what it was for! It was only some time later when I read something about shoppers voting for charities that I realised what it was for. I still have it in my purse.

wonder why they don't have the option for us online shoppers ... :-:

Yes my local waitrose often has CP as one of their charities :D

Ours too , and the Burford blue cross. ;D

Oh, I didn't know Waitrose done that - unfortunately, the only near to me is right in the centre of Edinburgh and it's not the easiest place to get to just now as there are loads of tram works going on.

;D That's great, pity the other supermarkets don't have a similar thing
