Title: Newbies - Day 18
Post by: Rosella moggy on February 08, 2009, 23:14:02 PM
Every day things settle down just that little bit more and I'm now less worried about tomorrow's return to work.  Freddie is completely at ease with Dinah and the babies (Millie and Ruby). I refer to him as Uncle Fred now.  Noni is less at ease with them all but not bad at all.  As expected, Billy is not at all impressed with newbies (esp kittens as they are so unpredictable) and would very much prefer it please if they would all kindly go back from whence they came. Having said that, apart from a lot of hissing if they get close, there's no actual aggression.

Thankful for the cat tree as that gives Noni and Billy somewhere safe to perch when it's kittens Da Mousey playtime in lounge. They are completely manic and I can well understand why insurance for kittens is higher than cats.  Although Dinah is allowed to mingle, the kittens are only allowed out of bedroom under supervision. We have slowly increased the amount of time they are allowed out of bedroom so that today in total they were out for about 4 hours.  Thankfully OH works from home so can do the necessary tomorrow. What's the betting I come home at lunchtime?  :innocent:

Bet you are glad to be back with them all tonight.  But they do all look very content with life, especially Mum!

Well done in settling them in so smoothly, it is great that you offered to keep the family together.  :Luv:

Millie is a superb little girl MrsR. That piccie captures her character quite well. she just needs a couple of horns  :naughty: like that   :Luv:

Lovely pics - even if Ruby does seem to think Im boring . . . . .  .(pic of baby me  and my uncle on the computer screen behind her!!!)

Thought you'd like that WC  :)

Phone call from OH 1/2 an hour after I'd gone to office today but I couldn't pick it up as I was on a call to a client. Good job I didn't coz he was in a panic as he couldn't find either of the little uns  :scared:  By the time I rang back 10 mins later he'd discovered them curled up together under footstool in front bedroom. They seem to have a thing for it.  Told him not to try giving me heart attacks and just get out Da Mousey. They'll come running no matter where they are.  I got home about 3.45pm. Would have been home at 3.30pm but was held up talking to girls in the office about the new family  :).

We are now at ease with them in any of the puds company including even Billy who just skirts around them now. Still have to be locked away for periods to let others have access to outside though. Currently working very well.

I just love those photos - especially the middle one where the two little black faces are looking down, one is looking up and Freddie is just going about his business in the middle    :Luv2:

I knew Ruby was trouble and prob what attracted me to her

I think Freddie is amazing and one of those must be Billy, which is great  ;D

Where is her majesty then  :shify: :shify:

Billy Whiz is on level 2 Gill. He is now fine with the kittens  :).

As expected, it's gonna take a while longer for H M Noni B and Dinah to come to terms  :shify: but at least no fistycuffs ... yet  :scared:  Noni trys hard to ignore them all as does Dinah now; Dinah spends alot of time upstairs but has spurts of play with the young girls on and off.  Don;t think it could have gone much better tbh. We were very lucky.

It sounds like its gone very well and I have heard that too many cooks in a kitchen often have tiffs

I am sure that in the end as Dinah is so young and Noni not that old they will settle  ;D

So Noni is being a bit snooty, is she? Shame on her! She'll come round I'm sure. I knew which cats were which on there, are you impressed? ;)

In 3rd piccie the thumbs up from kittie on lowest level gives a clue to Ruby's identity JS  ;)  Is that what you saw?  What's odd is that Billy isn't actually looking down at Freddie, he sleeps like that   Go figure  :-:

Don't think bad of our Princess coz she isn't actually nasty to wee uns and Dinah is giving as good as she gets in the hissy department.

Might've been. :shify: I'm very proud of Mr Whiz, he's not looking at all skitty.

I could never think badly of Noni B.  :Luv:

Can't help but continue to share our good fortune. So very proud of our "little" group .....

All 6 in kitchen (they don't eat together yet but they were all circling in expectation .....

Unusual perspective, both kittens same size but Millie, just in shot on the right, looks 5 times Ruby's size

Finally the incredibly photogenic Dinah

Oh Helen, if only you could see the zillions of tiny pin prick scratches all the way up me legs where Millie and Ruby climb up to get at their meals .....

Glad Lucy and Neo are putting you through your paces.  The last time I had kittens was 1977. Yes that's right over 30 years ago!  I had forgotten how crazy they are but so glad we have two as they ransack the house entertain each other brilliantly  :evillaugh:

Ooops sorry forgot we had Tom RIP as a kitten in 1990 (sorry sweetpea) with his Ma but I just don't remember him being as manic as these two.

I take it that Lucy and Neo fly through the air, land with a bang and then do it again and again and again......     :evillaugh:

... but I just don't remember him being as manic as these two.

We said exactly the same about Sage when compared to Asteroid. (All Sage wanted to do as a kitten was curl up next to my partner and go to sleep!)

Excellent picture - can I try guessing which is which....OK, Freddie is obviously the handsome boy at the front who is next to the other handsome boy of the house, Billy. Ms Baroni is behind them, and Millie and Dinah are the two next to the cupboards. That leaves Ruby in the doorway. Did I get it right? ;)

6 out of 6 JS  :1st place:  or at least I think so..... At that distance, even I would have difficulty betting who's who 'tween Millie and Ruby

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but I hear Judith may have a few beautiful newbies in need of homes soon  :)

I've had to discuss behaviour with Ruby twice whilst writing this short post. Just figured out problem.  They've found the kitty kopter from Tan's shop  :)
